It will be very different next season Foxy
You will be down with the bookies favourites for relegation.
The best thing to do is enjoy it, take the money and just see what pans out.
The worst thing to do is sack your manager, take on some Jhonny Foreigner with no experience and go down anyway, while piddling off your fanbase
The decision making skills of most Chairmen takes some believing

Beaten by Halifax!
At least Cambridge only managed a draw.
Come on Hatters, wake up. The fat lady hasn't sung yet!!

Frank, I'm not entirely surprised at the result - Halifax have been improving strongly of late, and had some decent results. A couple of friends who are Halifax fans asked me if I wanted to accompany them to the game on Saturday, but I declined - so can't give you a match report.Frank Manning wrote:Beaten by Halifax!![]()

Re: Football 2013
The Luton Manager isn't complaining, he says the better team won on the day. I am just biting my fingers to the quick wanting Luton to get over the magic points number which guarantees them back into the football league. Realistically they need 11 points from 7 games to be sure of beating Cambridge, and 8 ponts to be sure of beating Grimsby.Romig1 wrote:Frank, I'm not entirely surprised at the result - Halifax have been improving strongly of late, and had some decent results. Good result tonight against an in-form Wigan who played well. Happy with the draw. We just need 6 points from the last 7 matches and we're up.

I'm not surprised that you're happy..... an 87th minute equaliser wasn't it?
You look pretty safe now.
And the dirty team from down the M62 lost too!

Re: Football 2013
I think there is a growing discontent against the tenure of McDermott. Much as I dislike the club, I do feel he is a decent manager (and man) and they would be foolish to get rid of him.
The whole club is in complete turmoil and the whole Cellino take-over has become little more than a soap-opera. No doubt he will probably eventually win, but who would really want such a person owning and running their club? A man that forgets that he owns a mega-yacht? if that's anything to go by, then not many!

Re: Football 2013
Frankly they are in a right mess. Over the years they have attracted some dodgy characters - none more so than Ken Bates. However it's not just Leeds. Look at the chap at Birmingham, and then there's the wonderful Mr Tan at Cardiff who has really screwed them up. Whilst we have foreign owners they have stayed in the background. I just hope they have no aspirations for renaming us the Leicester Lions, playing in red (or any other colour) or selling noodles instead of the traditional meat pie.
It's things like that which make you feel sympathy with the fans.

Re: Football 2013
I wouldn't normally dream of posting on this thread but when Foxy mentioned Cardiff I felt I had to say that Vincent Tan is not very popular down here - the fans recently held a demonstration wearing the old blue strip - they hate the red but as long as he is bankrolling the club he will have his way. The feeling is that it will need a miracle to stay up

My son Philip is an avid supporter of Gateshead and is hoping they can manage to get in to Division 2 this year. They are in a play off position at the moment.

Have just come across this:

Please be aware there is some strong written language so please do not open if you find strong language offensive.

Re: Football 2013
They will do well to stay in the playoffs Susan, but there are only three teams who can now come top of tat league, and only one with a realistic chance of catching Luton and that is Cambridge.Susan Watt wrote:My son Philip is an avid supporter of Gateshead and is hoping they can manage to get in to Division 2 this year. Re: Football 2013
So, with a fair wind (and some favourable results) the Foxes could be confirmed as promoted today.
That's some achievement, at this stage in the season - well done. They have looked increasingly unstoppable as the season has progressed.
Town play Bolton at home today. We have only one recognised senior striker at the club for the remainder of the season.... with 3 strikers out on loans, and the injury-prone James Vaughan......injured again (for the rest of the season). I bet he's appeared in less than 50% of our matches, through illness, injury, and unnecessary suspensions. Had he been available more, I'm certain we'd have been knocking on the door of the play-offs.
