Congratulations, we look forward to seeing Nigel back at St Mary's. That's another 6 points we can count on next season how's our old mate Dean Hammond doing? Any chance of swapping him for Kasper Schmeichel?

I expect Nigel will get a good reception back at St Mary's. It was a pity you lost him but he has done a good job for us in a very quiet and unassuming manner. After the disappointments of last season we wondered whether he had the ability to recover but he stuck by his team, made a few cheap signings including another unknown from France and here we are.
Dean Hammond has suffered trying to find a place in midfield where we have found a strong pairing who have dominated. Hence he hasn't played much.
You can keep your eyes off Kasper. Hopefully we can hold on to him. He plays with his heart on his sleeve and we love him at City. It will be interesting to see how some of our young players cope in the Premiership.
At least next year I won't have to stay awake until the early hours of Sunday morning to see the highlights!!

The comments about refs made me chuckle.

If you listened to half the muppets that sit near me at Uddersfield games, then the ref is terrible every week. Just the usual partisan, blinkered view that can come with supporting a football team I guess, but it seems to me that each week we get a worse ref than the previous game, in some people's eyes.

I wouldn't be a referee for all the tea in China and it is understandable they do make mistakes but you have to admit there are some very strange decisions made irrespective of partisan feelings.

As for the crowd, everybody is an expert for 90 minutes even if they haven't a clue about the rules.

I remember Uriah Rennie on one occasion utilizing a drop-ball on the goal line, midway between the goal and the corner flag, when neither he, nor his assistant knew whether to give a dead-ball or a corner.

Personally, I'm pretty philosophical about refs. They are bound to make mistakes (even howlers occasionally), but they generally even themselves out over the season. I chuckle at home games when the idiots who bay for the refs blood when he errs against us stay remarkably quiet when it's in our favour. I often wonder out loud why they aren't screaming for justice for the oppo.

The best refs, in my opinion, are those you don't notice as opposed to the whistle-happy, card-waving ones who make a drama out of every incident. They can have a major influence on how the match is played and regrettably some just don't have it. They may know the laws of the game but it's the personal touch with the players which is so important and some don't have it.

Bl***y Brighton!!! Fair dues to them, they were the better team on the night and we were off colour, probably still suffering hangovers. Brighton played well but were helped by some woeful defending. Can't really complain, first defeat in about 21 matches.

I see Romig's Terriers had a bad night too but Mob's lot beating Leeds will perhaps give him something to cheer about.

Indeed Foxy. No matter how bad we are at the moment (and tonight was really woeful, believe me), I can get a little consolation from the result of the Dirty Team. We haven't won now for 7 games, and I can't see where we will get another one from before the end of the season.

It was madness that a club the size of Luton was in the Skrill League.

Word down here is that Luton are in talks with two of our players who are out of contract come June.
Whelpdale & Lee. Both decent players.
Whelpdale would always be an automatic starter if his sick record was better. Has played little this season.
Charlie Lee is 100% but a red card waiting to happen. Both have played in the Championship.

You've also got our lad Luke Rooney. A tricky winger. Was only ever an impact sub here but the type who can change a game.
Never impressed when starting.

I think you'll be fine next season and will probably push on.

Thanks Barney on behalf of the Hatters. Many supporters felt that they had a raw deal in the first place, just because the Manager blew the whistle on some dodgy agent dealings as I recall.

Our whole family are delighted with the news, and we aren't mad football fanatics either, one branch on my brother's side support Spurs and the other Arsenal.
