Surely if the neighbour has comprehensive house insurance then the car owners will be able to claim against her insurance. They may need to claim through their car insurer, but they should avoid losing their no claim bonus.
Hi John, these incidents are considered acts of God so it will be the car owner’s insurance that will have to cough up.

God has a lot to answer for in my book.
If tiles have come off your roof and damaged a nearby property or car, you are liable. In most cases, the legal liability part of your buildings insurance policy should meet claims for this.

The above is from a google search.

I dont seem able to correct this post to show it's from Towny.

We’ve just had a visit from Eunice’s big brother Franky…the worst of it only lasted an hour but the gusts must have been in the 80mph region, give or take an allowance for a fisherman’s measurement.

It lifted a heavy picnic table halfway across the garden…not sure where the winds are heading but you would be well advised to batten down the hatches.

P.s still gusting around 50mph

Keep the hatches battened down, there is another week of storms still to come.

Currently around 50mph wind here at the moment dying down to around 40 by five o’clock.

Nothing showing for the rest of the week…….at the moment.

The winds are starting to ease now(I said that last time and then lost a panel) with no problems. Need to replace five panels which are damaged, but hopefully will remain in place till after our cruise.
Panels may be hard to obtain at the moment so not wasting time to find out.

We lost one panel last night but it’s a party fence and it’s the neighbours turn.

Well, I had just been telling you about some of our fence panels blowing down in the gales and had hoped to mention another one but then we lost power ... for 30 something hours :o

We had the log burner to keep us warm thankfully but no batteries for the radio and nought but a couple of LED type mini torches and a motley collection of tea lights to see anything. The highlight was toast cooked in front of the open fire

Good luck with all that ... one's car Insurance is with More Tha>. They had sent me an e-mail advising one NOT to park next to trees nor adjacent to a tiled roof because of the obvious risk. One assumed that they wouldn't pay up if I ignored their warning.

Typical insurance company. Perhaps they’ll be happy if you park it in a field and then have to claim because it gets mud bound.

The winds have subsided somewhat in these lovely Shropshire hills but still quite gusty. Took the puppy out this morning and she came back looking like she had entered a mud bath competition.

According to the Environmental Agency map that I've just looked at you're in a ' Flood Alert ' zone ... hopefully not so :(

I had the roof repaired yesterday fortunately because we had extraordinarily hard rain earlier, followed by a squall of sleet.
It’s now glorious sunshine.

Folks in a nearly village are still without power but the ' Powers that be ' have linked them all up to a large generator in the village's pub car park.
