Warnock to leave Huddersfield. Seems he has been around for ever.
His last game in charge will be Wednesday against Stoke, so I hope he finishes on a win.
No indication of his replacement at present but I hope he can get the same performances out of the squad that Neil has achieved.
That lad Mahoney that we took on loan from you has been very good so far.
His goal on Saturday was a cracker.
Shows the difference between the divisions.
Hopefully he won't be recalled in January, as often happens with a new manager.

We have quite a few wide players now, all vying for a starting spot, so unless we are struggling I think you should be OK.

We've got 2nd playing 3rd on Saturday.
High scoring Nigel Clough's Mansfield.
I'm predicting a dour 1-0 to the Gills
I am a bit surprised on the amount of stick that Neil Harris is currently getting from a section of fans, given we were top until last Saturday.
Football fans are a weird bunch.

Back in action tonight away at Crewe, who have had a decent enough start.

Saturday's 1-1 draw was extremely controversial and had it been in the PL they would still be talking about it.

I'll put an abridged version of what happened and maybe a couple of neutrals can give their opinion, because I'm clearly biased.

Right, Gills had possession and attacking in Mansfield's box.
Their CB hooves the ball out of defence and it falls kindly to their midfielder who is then on a breakaway.
Our midfielder pulls him back, so it's a foul and a booking.
No problem with that. Definite foul and definite booking.
The ref blows the whistle to stop the game.

So, as usual, the ref gets out his yellow and calls our player towards him.
The player is walking towards him and is joined by a couple more having a little whinge about the card.
So far, totally normal.

Before the ref has the chance to actually book our player, the Mansfield player takes a quick free kick up to their forward who was unmarked because our players had stopped.
(play to the whistle?)
He neatly slotted home unopposed.
We expected the ref to call it back because he hadn't completed the disciplinary procedure that he had started but he gave the goal.
Then during protestation booked the guy who originally committed the foul. (plus one more)

To rub salt in, the free kick was taken for about five yards forward from where the foul was committed.

To be honest, over the ninety, a draw was probably a fair result but I still feel aggrieved when I think the ref got it totally wrong and it cost us two points.

I saw that in the EFL goals show and remember thinking that ain't right. Sounds like the referee got it completely wrong, he should have disallowed the goal and cautioned the player that took the free kick. As well as the player that fouled the Mansfield player in the first place. The goal should never have been allowed. Was he a new referee at that level and where was his linesman or fourth official to advice him.

Here's the incident (50 seconds) in

A bit more defending and a bit less whinge-ing at the ref may have prevented the goal, perhaps the ref was making exactly that point. As a neutral I thought in favour and against without actually making a decision.

The law clearly says that once the ref has started to administer a disciplinary procedure, he must see it through before restarting the game.
I suppose getting the card out but not immediately showing it is the debatable point.
Harris said after that he didn't criticise Mansfield for doing it, but he's drilled into the players to play to the whistle, which is exactly what they did.

T' Hornets are close to the relegation zone so have called the Manager into the office, guess what.

Nope ... they've decided to extend his contract rather than sacking him ... now I am confused :?

Don’t you just love Klopp! He’s now wanting the Spuds game replayed, what a Bell End.
Maybe he thinks the game they lost at Sunderland when the ball hit a beach ball should be replayed or the games when he’s complained about the grass being too long or it was too windy.!
Loads of bad decisions are being made every game it’s tough but you get on with it.
Watch Liverpool get lots of the rub of the green the rest of the season.
Would they replay with 10 men.? Jones had already been sent off.! Nah,didn’t so.

Maybe Klopp is expecting too much, however I do think the match officials and those operating VAR for that match, should be suspended for a very long retraining period, if not banned altogether. Otherwise how are we ever going to get VAR to correctly overturn only incorrect on field decisions?

I believe that the involvement of ex players at VAR-Ville would be of significant value.

I believe that they should ditch the whole thing and go back to accepting that referees will from time to time make mistakes. Before var it was proven that the officials got contentious decisions right about 95% of the time, that ain't a bad ratio. How has VAR made things better, if anything it's worse?
Over the years the Palace have suffered many times for bad refereeing mistakes but I would rather that than this VAR thing. They dint even know how to use it properly.

Paul, I certainly will go with that. You win a few, you lose a few when it comes to referee decisions, but for the big clubs who the decisions seem to favor more than the smaller clubs when playing them, it's all about the greed and money.
Don't worry, be happy

I have always felt that the opinions of ex players is actively discouraged by most national FAs, probably since their knowledge and experience would embarrass the "never played football" administrators.

Agree 100%, scrap VAR and go back to a single referee and two linesman, at least if they made a mistake it was generally accepted and forgotten within minutes.

VAR has ruined football, people barely celebrate anymore as they are waiting for the VAR intervention to say someones toenail is offside, I was led to believe it would only be used for clear and obvious errors but that's not how its turned out.

What also hasn't been mentioned with regards to the fiasco at the weekend is that millions of pounds are staked on these games and theres no recompense when shocking decisions such as this are made.

If 6 or so officials and the technology still can't get it right then to my thinking it's time to get rid.

I agree madness. He wasn't very popular with some supporters, I think you said, could they have had something to do with it.

It seems that the most vocal on the forum are very pleased with this decision Paul.
Given our league position, the new manager will get no honeymoon period.
It’s top or nothing.
Anything less will be seen as a failure.

Well, a different team lineup with four defenders one holding and five attackers.
Very brave.
MK dominated for the first fifteen minutes but then Gills took over and should have been much more than one nil up at halftime. Continuing into the second half and at two nil, about as comfortable as possible.
The stats showed loads of MK shots but nothing to worry the keeper.
Then , at 75 minutes ……. All change !
Two forwards off
Two defenders on
Surrendered the initiative and they got one back.
Then serious backs to the wall as we had no outlet.
A breakaway should have resulted in a third but Mahoney fluffed the script.
Anyway, we hung on and are back to third and just two points from top.
What an opportunity for the new manager.
How often does a new manager take over a team at the top?
Keith Millen will be glad to stand down .
His nerves are shattered after one match 😂
