Re: Post Brexit: the reality
I can't profess to being as informed as some of you on this topic but no matter which side of the fence you are sitting it would take a brave man to place money on there being a European union in a couple of years from now. If this dose turn out to be the case then we'll be thanking our lucky stars that 'we' the United Kingdom got out when we did as we'll be several steps ahead of our European trading partners in establishing new and exciting trading deals with the rest of the world.
The past is the past time to look to the future.

I agree that things may well look very different in a couple of years time. A big shake up could well be on the cards.Onelife wrote:I can't profess to being as informed as some of you on this topic but no matter which side of the fence you are sitting it would take a brave man to place money on there being a European union in a couple of years from now. But with people like Guy Verhofstadt in charge it will certainly not be what the Quitters are still promising.
Personally, I would like a two tier Europe, with us, France, Germany, Benelux as the central core and other less economically developed countries attempting to get 'promotion'. It does concern me that this sounds similar to the Soviet block satellite states and more problems I haven't thought of.
Looking to the future {picks up Churchill cigar} Britain needs to be at the very centre of the Union leading the continent to a prosperous future.

Replace Britain with England. Replace continent with the UK.
As a nation, we are not and never have considered ourselves primarily European.
The continent of Europe is somewhere we go to, not belong to.
That is why the majority voted to leave the EU.
It's because we're British.
It's because we are different.
It's because we are an island race.
That, Jack is a simple fact of life.
In the long run, the EU, if it survives, will thank us for leaving.
We are the bloody annoying neighbour.
Never agreeing with anything and a constant thorn in the side.
Hopefully we'll be fine and hopefully they will be fine.
We'll buy their crap, they'll buy our crap, and the world moves on.

Wrong again, because we are English, the Scots and Northern Irish voted to remain.barney wrote:It's because we're British.

Lets hope so, but we are losing far more than they are.barney wrote:Hopefully we'll be fine and hopefully they will be fine.
We might have buy their cr*p. Why would they buy ours? What have we got that won't be (say) 10% more expensive than theirs once the trade tariffs are added?barney wrote:We'll buy their cr*p, they'll buy our cr*p, and the world moves on.
England. The name comes from the district of Angeln, an area located on the Baltic shore of what is now Schleswig-Holstein.

I'm with you Jack! But dont confuse them with facts. Wait and see, Farage is already crying foul over the make up of the eu negotiating team. They are having to find out the hard way that the eu is not about to sing to their tune. He wont do any of us any favours by trotting out his usual populist insults to the eu at this stage of the game.

Tell you what. This thread is just going round and round. It's beginning to beat anything we ever did on dress codes for tedium.
So I'm out of the EU asap please.
And I'm out of this interminable debate

... and some
I cannot believe, nor get overly interested in, the need to go round n round n round in circles.
The in vs out vote is absolute history !!!
At this time we need to believe in the powers that be, to trust their motives in gaining a decent conclusion to what will be a series of very difficult negotiations. I am personally optimistic and believe that it will work out just fine but I also know that if they mess up then we will all go down the tubes with the loony left, saints preserve us.

Re: Post Brexit: the reality
Well in the spirit of not going round in circles and moving on, I have just watched tonights 'Kippers party political broadcast.
Now the more astute amongst you may have worked out I am teeny weeny bit biased on this whole Brexity thingy.
To say I am encouraged by the broadcast is very much an understatement.
To hear Herr Fromage advertising the fact that Daniel Hannan is wavering, how Richard Branson is against 'us', slagging of Corbyn (well obviously), how Smith wants another vote and Theresa May can not bet trusted to deliver.
Brilliant publicity for all the Remainers, how we haven't given up and the fight goes on.
I think Herr Fromage has taken the Brexit vote to his head and now thinks the vote was for him personally.
This party who has ONE seat in Parliament now seems to think it is running the country. That can't be right, can it?

What I have said about accepting the democratic result applies to Mr Farridge as well. What he said is totally unacceptable.Jack Staff wrote:
