Makes you wonder why he wanted them then. Until he was told he couldn't have them.
Reminds me of the childhood "my Dad's bigger than your Dad" thing

He’ll slag us off until he gets in the brown stuff again and then come crawling for European assistance.

Let's hope his insults stop Charlie and Cam going on another freebie holiday wasting hundreds of thousands in tax payers money.

Having watched the program about HMS Prince of Wales last night then if that is a "toy" I missed out big style when I was child!

My wife says size doesn't matter but as far as war ships go, American Aircraft carriers are way bigger than ours…I was reading a report this evening which was saying we are now having to borrow war ships from Germany ... how true this is I know not.

I saw that as well. Interesting and not something you would want to be on the receiving end of.

Re: Current Affairs - 2026
Well what a surprise that Trump has postponed his attack on Iran for 10 days because the talks are ongoing
If I was ever to be considered cynical I would say that this was the whole point of the "announcement" about the "talks" at the start of the week.

Well I've been watching some of Trump's latest rambling speech. I can't see how anybody can think he is anything less than 100% insane. A commentator who knows a lot more than me noted that Vance has become invisible, the suggestion being he is quietly distancing himself ready for the day he has to call in the men in white coats.

For the sake of America It would be helpful if they provided a white coat for Vance as well.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 27 Mar 2026, 22:45Well I've been watching some of Trump's latest rambling speech. I think he's pretty unpleasant but not quite as certifiable as Trump. But only marginally I agree.
Maybe we should offer Foxy for the job? He seems okay.

Foxes are highly intelligent, adaptable, and curious creatures known for their playful yet cautious nature. They are generally solitary, independent, and resourceful animals that exhibit clever, "trickster" behavior to solve problems, often acting quickly to avoid conflict. They are opportunistic, agile, and possess distinct individual personalities.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 27 Mar 2026, 22:51I think he's pretty unpleasant but not quite as certifiable as Trump. I see in the latest news that the Houthis have joined the party. How long before the Suez Canal becomes a no go area - again?

Re: Current Affairs - 2026
There was a big fire at a listed but derelict mill in Leek last night. This was posted in a local FB group, with a picture of Trump. Very clever.
“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you, thank you very much—tremendous crowd, by the way, tremendous. Nobody has better crowds than me, everybody says it.
Tonight, I can confirm—we launched a very powerful, very precise strike on the so-called ‘Big Mill’ in Leek. They said it couldn’t be done. I said, ‘Why not? It’s a big mill. We like big things.’
Now, I’m hearing—this mill, very old, very nasty, built in 1857, okay? Not good. Very weak windows. Nobody’s updated it. Sad!”
(leans in)
“People are saying—it’s one of the worst mills. Maybe the worst. I don’t know. That’s what people are telling me.”
“We hit it with incredible force. The best force. The smartest bombs—you’ve never seen bombs like this, folks. Very classy bombs. And let me tell you, the people of Iran—or wherever this is supposed to be—are shocked. Totally shocked.”
“And they said, ‘Sir, why the Big Mill?’ I said, ‘Because it’s BIG. And we only go after the biggest targets. That’s what we do. We win.’”
(pauses, nodding)
“And by the way, nobody knew where Leek was before this. Nobody. Now? It’s on the map. I put it on the map. You’re welcome.”
“We’re restoring strength, we’re restoring power, and frankly, we’re restoring mills. Maybe we rebuild it—better, bigger, with gold on top. We’ll see. We’ll see what happens.”
“God bless you, and God bless the United States of America—and also, frankly, God bless… whatever that place was. Leek. Interesting name. Sounds like a vegetable. Not a strong name.”

True.
But a quick poll of our esteemed company.
Who still doesn't think Trump is clinically insane?

An interesting article on BBC today by Jeremy Bowen which seems to summarise the Iran war military operation very well.

An extremely well written article containing what are probably many truths but the words he wrote that resonate with me are…
“The regime is built on institutions, not individuals, and reinforced by iron-clad religious beliefs and an ideology of martyrdom”
We have witnessed… Oct 7 - 9/11 - 7/7 and we will no doubt witness more of these terrorist attacks, so the question I would ask is “should Israel wait until Iran have built up an arsenal of weaponry that can’t be challenged or does Israel put in place something that gives them more protection than otherwise would be the case?

Re: Current Affairs - 2026
You make a reasonable point there Onelife, unfortunately, despite the enormous advantage in firepower that Israel and the US possess, without a sensible plan of action and an achievable result, you end up with egg on your face and, in Trumps case, you look even more stupid than you usually do.Onelife wrote: 29 Mar 2026, 11:26An extremely well written article containing what are probably many truths but the words he wrote that resonate with me are…
