Lots of Birthdays at 56, and most joined May 15. Now that's some coincidence.
Don't worry, be happy

Re: Current Affairs - 2026
Can somebody please explain why the great peacemaker who does not want to be the world's policeman has invaded Venezuela? Irrespective of what Maduro was like it is not Trump's place to kidnap him and take him to the US for trial.
Bye, bye Nobel Peace Prize!!

Is Trump’s invasion of Venezuela much different from Putin’s invasion of Ukraine? Seems to me the actions of two bully boys.

You may note that all these bully boy presidents are the leaders of so called republics, I much prefer our docile Monarchy.

I think Trump want to take over the world. Greenland looks to be on the cards next.

Agreed. He's completely deranged. I'm appalled Starmer hasn't had the balls to condemn his attack on Venezuela and threats to Greenland.

Unfortunately none of were there to actually see what happened but I don't believe that firing at a person's head is in line with this statement.Onelife wrote: 08 Jan 2026, 13:49How anyone can justify this murder is as deranged as the nutter who shot this innocent women.

There are two sides to this story but based on past experience I would not place any credence in the Trump version. The ICE agent feared for his life, Noem said, and "fired defensive shots".

I see more people have been moved out of their homes in Hemsby as the sea erodes the cliffs where their houses stand.
When I look at where our governments present and past spend our money I ask why we don’t look after our own people. In the cosmic scheme of things it would not be overly expensive to protect the shoreline and the homes of those who live there.

Re: Current Affairs - 2026
I thought that they already had those powers.
It is one thing having the powers but another having the resources to enforce them.
It seems to be the way that governments think these days - make a law and that is the end of that problem, and if it is not enforced then it is not the governments fault.

The problem round here is we have a number of narrow streets of terraced houses. If pavement parking was banned and cars both sides parked fully on the road there would be no room left for cars to get through between them, much less an ambulance or fire engine. So to enforce it they'd have to ban parking completely on one side. And with most houses having at least one car there's already a parking nightmare. If the space was halved then what?

Re: Current Affairs - 2026
I think that this raises two issues - many houses were built before people had cars so there was no provision made for car parking and the other is that many houses have two or more cars which the residents insist on parking outside their own home, or as close as possible so that they do not have to walk. One solution is one designated paring space per house and any other cars will have to find alternative parking.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 10 Jan 2026, 14:52The problem round here is we have a number of narrow streets of terraced houses. As for pavements again there are two issues - the boy racers who insist on riding their bikes at breakneck speed on the pavement totally disregarding any pedestrians and the problem of wheelchairs/prams having access.
