Indeed David, unless turned off your phone is very accurate to your whereabouts and every time you use your cards to purchase something, there's a mark. Then you have CCTV in stores and on the streets. The sat nav in the car.

Are the NATO allies calling Trump's bluff by sending a limited number of troops to Greenland?

If Trump tries to take Greenland by force with NATO troops on the ground then he will effectively have declared war on NATO. I would like to think that common sense may prevail - but I am not holding out much hope.

Trump is nothing more than a Billy who throws his toys out of the pram whenever he doesn't get is own way.

OK it might get painful economically but we should have nothing to do with America - stop supplying with goods, stop co-operating with them in the many ways that we do, stop visiting America plus anything else that will cause them pain and hopefully the rest of Europe would join us.

My wife agrees with you David…I’m a little more apprehensive because when/if it comes to a fight I’m not so sure Europe would come to our aid.

The responses from the other European countries affected seem to be saying the same thing - stick your tariffs where the sun don't shine. Even American politicians are opposed to this measure and in any event US Congress will never approve whatever he tries to do.

There is an outside possibility that under the American Constitution he could be removed from office, basically for having lost his mind and endangering the country.

Based on previous acts by Trump I would make a guess that the timing of these tariffs will be pushed back a few weeks but the big problem for Trump is how to save face - there will need to be a compromise where he, at least in his tiny mind, believes that he has won.

He’s a businessman so these will be his opening shots. It has nothing to do with security or the prospects of attack by Russia and China and more to do with precious minerals. Didn’t he look to make a deal with Ukraine for access to their precious minerals as well.

Trump just wants to have control of as much of the world's natural resources as he can so that all other countries have to come bowing and scaping with cap in hand and pay an exorbitant price for them. Nothing more than robbery.

So part of Trump's reasoning for taking over Greenland is that he has not been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. Not only that he has complained about it to the Norwegian PM who, as we know, has nothing to do with it.

Although he probably does not realise it he has not been given her Nobel Peace Prize medal as it cannot be given to anybody else, it can only be loaned to them.

Trump has said he wants Greenland. Other countries have said that is up to Greenland. No discussions have taken place. So all that has happened so far is words but Trump is threatening countries for what they have said. The US First Amendment is to allow free speech which seems at odds with what is happening.

Would they have really helped us in our last major conflict if the Japs hadn't attack them.
We only finished paying them back a few years ago for ww2.
