Sainsbury's and Necatar, already know a heck of a lot , about me, as does Amazon. I really cannot see what all the fuss is about. If people are worried about "big brother" tracking them, well think again because it is already happening.

Are the NATO allies calling Trump's bluff by sending a limited number of troops to Greenland?
If Trump tries to take Greenland by force with NATO troops on the ground then he will effectively have declared war on NATO. I would like to think that common sense may prevail - but I am not holding out much hope.

Using "common sense" and "Trump" in the same paragraph - I thought for a minute this was the weekly Morning All posting

I hope that Starmer stands up to Trump and tells him where to stick his tariffs for supporting Greenland.
Trump is nothing more than a Billy who throws his toys out of the pram whenever he doesn't get is own way.
OK it might get painful economically but we should have nothing to do with America - stop supplying with goods, stop co-operating with them in the many ways that we do, stop visiting America plus anything else that will cause them pain and hopefully the rest of Europe would join us.

My wife agrees with you David…I’m a little more apprehensive because when/if it comes to a fight I’m not so sure Europe would come to our aid.david63 wrote: 17 Jan 2026, 19:01I hope that Starmer stands up to Trump and tells him where to stick his tariffs for supporting Greenland.

The responses from the other European countries affected seem to be saying the same thing - stick your tariffs where the sun don't shine. Even American politicians are opposed to this measure and in any event US Congress will never approve whatever he tries to do.Onelife wrote: 17 Jan 2026, 21:42when/if it comes to a fight I’m not so sure Europe would come to our aid.
There is an outside possibility that under the American Constitution he could be removed from office, basically for having lost his mind and endangering the country.

Based on previous acts by Trump I would make a guess that the timing of these tariffs will be pushed back a few weeks but the big problem for Trump is how to save face - there will need to be a compromise where he, at least in his tiny mind, believes that he has won.

You mean where he has achieved the biggest win in the history of disputes, with Greenland.david63 wrote: 18 Jan 2026, 08:31Based on previous acts by Trump I would make a guess that the timing of these tariffs will be pushed back a few weeks but the big problem for Trump is how to save face - there will need to be a compromise where he, at least in his tiny mind, believes that he has won.

He’s a businessman so these will be his opening shots. It has nothing to do with security or the prospects of attack by Russia and China and more to do with precious minerals. Didn’t he look to make a deal with Ukraine for access to their precious minerals as well.

Not to mention Venezuelan oil.
Trump just wants to have control of as much of the world's natural resources as he can so that all other countries have to come bowing and scaping with cap in hand and pay an exorbitant price for them. Nothing more than robbery.

So part of Trump's reasoning for taking over Greenland is that he has not been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. Not only that he has complained about it to the Norwegian PM who, as we know, has nothing to do with it.
He is worse than a spoilt child not getting their own way.

Don’t you just love the Venezuelan lady who gave him her own Nobel Peace Prize and the clown accepted it
He then had his photograph taken with it!!! Did he not realise how ridiculous he looked but obviously not.

Is there any connection between him thinking he has been given her prize and the latest outburst?oldbluefox wrote: 19 Jan 2026, 12:51Don’t you just love the Venezuelan lady who gave him her own Nobel Peace Prize and the clown accepted it![]()

Although he probably does not realise it he has not been given her Nobel Peace Prize medal as it cannot be given to anybody else, it can only be loaned to them.

He is just barking insane. I'm baffled any American still thinks he's a good President. I notice his supporter Farage hasn't praised him lately.

Am I missing something?
Trump has said he wants Greenland. Other countries have said that is up to Greenland. No discussions have taken place. So all that has happened so far is words but Trump is threatening countries for what they have said. The US First Amendment is to allow free speech which seems at odds with what is happening.

He did say when threatening to impose tariffs more or less, that's the thanks we get for all we've done for you [Europe].
Would they have really helped us in our last major conflict if the Japs hadn't attack them.
We only finished paying them back a few years ago for ww2.
Is this really how friends work together. The only thing Trump talk about is money, money, money.
One man burning a friendship across the pond, how does the average American see it from thier side.

Not if you live in Ukraine it’s not. I thought Orange Face was going to bring peace in 24 hours. He never mentions it now except to tell Zelensky to give in to Putins demands. More worthy of consideration for a Peace Prize than sorting out a couple of scuffles outside the local chip shop.
