No, it's not a christening - that is quite nicely under control, and organising it is great fun.

No, it's not made up - and no, I'm not paying for it. We're going along so that we can look after our granddaughter and then our daughter and son-in-law can have a lovely time at the same 'do'.

....... and before some bright spark makes a daft comment - no, it's not their wedding, that was years ago.

Well, how funny is that? I was going to suggest that you sent your Daughter and SIL in your place, and you took care of your baby granddaughter because I know you would love to do that. Truly!!! I am not making this up. But they are going anyway. So why don't you look after baby at home. Then everyone would be happy. Wouldn't they? What a perfect solution to a tricky problem. I don't think baby would be interested in the pork in a bun, in fact she wouldn't be interested in any of it. At the very least you could leave early, before the little piggy makes an appearance. Hows about that? :?: :?: :?:

Hi Jay,

I wish - but it just won't happen that way.

I'd love to look after little one for a day or three - but I'm not quite up to that yet.

Haven't done the hogroast thing yet OBF, it's looming on the horizon, but there's still a few weeks to go.

Hi MoB,

Wish it was Fairford, but the event we like at Fairford has been and gone this year.

Hi OBF -

Is what animal, vegetable or mineral? The hogroast thing is I suppose animal with a hint of vegetable thrown in. I'm just hoping I can 'show my face' and keep happily well in the background and get away with doing my own thing.

Anyone got a thing?

WhenI had one, it was just a sheet of paper. I did print the verse out onto a silver CD label and affixed it to an old disc, which I then presented to a French guy I used to work with. He spent ages scratching his head trying to work out what it meant and couldn't understand why everyone else was laughing their heads off.
