Blackpool back to the Championship.
Well done.
I’ve seen every team in league one twice this season and Blackpool along with Hull were the two best teams in my opinion.
Peterborough were very good or very ordinary.

Congratulations to the Seasiders. They have been through a pretty torrid time with a past owner which saw them slide down the divisions along with fan boycotts and court cases so it's good to see them on the up again.

Re: Football 20/21
Interestingly the 3 teams that finished 3rd in their respective League table won promotion via the play-offs. That don't always happen. We just need Torquay to win the National League play-offs and it will be a clean sweep.

Gills first signing for the new season announced today.
Olly Lee, who we had on loan from Hearts last season.
Who was ok for us so not at all surprised.
Ten more to go.
Currently no keepers, one CB, one striker and four midfielders.

While clubs in the Premier League rake it in its a different story at Tier 5 for one club anyway.

This shouldn't be happening. There's enough money in the game not to let things like this happen.

Re: Football 20/21
I posted about Dover’s plight weeks ago.
A good, local, well supported club can potentially go to the wall because they refuse to take on debt, while the premier league is literally spunking millions up the wall with ridiculous salaries and transfer fees .
Gills have offered them a few young players to start their season if they need it.
We will only have a first team squad of twenty or so.
We have a few promising youngsters.

It's the £40000 fine I don't get. They didn't play because they didn't want debt and the FA give them a massive fine which will put them in debt.
The so called big clubs owe millions 40k is loose change to them and yet it could spell the end of Dover, a smashing little club I had the pleasure of visiting s few years ago in the FA Cup.

Re: Football 20/21
When I look at some of the misdemeanours the Prem players and clubs get away with, and especially the shenanigans over the "Big 6 breakaway" a fine of £40k for a little club like Dover is way over the top and just accentuates the divide between the rich and the poor, especially in these unusual circumstances. It doesn't seem to make sense at all.

Yes, I remember Alan Birchenall when he played for Palace in the early 70's, he came to us from Chelsea along with Bobby Rambling. He had class then, glad to see he's still got it.

Re: Football 20/21
He was a good player in his day and has been a good servant to the City. Until very recently he always did 50 laps of the pitch on the final home game of the season to raise money for charity. He's also quite some character. I remember him scoring a free kick against us when he played for Chelsea from a good 30 yards out. He's now the chap on the microphone doing all the PR stuff on the pitch.

Re: Football 20/21
I must admit that the first ten minutes aside, I found it pretty boring although I did tough it out and stick with it.
I’m guessing that you guys who follow the premier league are used to that tippy tappy, to you, to me style of football.
It’s a bit more agricultural in league one. A lot more Thud and Blunder and dare one say, a lot more entertaining.
Hopefully Friday match against the old sweaty socks will be more entertaining.

Re: Football 20/21
I'm with you. I dislike immensely backwards and sideways football and what's this new tactic of starting from your own box about? I enjoy the more direct style get the ball up the field and get it in the box. There's nothing better than watching a winger best his full back, get to the goal line and pullthe ball back for an string midfielder to score. I know backwards and sideways football does this but they take 20 minutes to get the ball from box to box..... yawn. Get it forward, get it in the box and see what happens.
