I’m pleased to say that after considerable buffeting, unlike last year, our roof is still intact, the staff quarters situated in the stable bock has no leaks, and looking out onto the estate the deer seem to be munching away happily.

Re: Storm Darragh
We were expecting it pretty rough with an amber warning, especially as we live near the coast but apart from being a bit breezy it's nothing out of the ordinary. We were going to have a morning in Keswick but bearing in mind the forecast we put it off. Bit of a false alarm.
Hope everyone else is safe.

The winds have picked back up again here in the lovely Shropshire hills, 62 mph gusts presently.

Re: Storm Darragh
My village, between Southampton and Portsmouth seems to be coping, lots of noises during the night. The only casualty as far as I'm concerned is that along with most of the village I have a Christmas tree in a socket on the front wall of my house at 45 degrees, which has lights on. This morning the lights are just about still on the tree but dangling off the bottom so it will need attention once the winds have finished. One of my daughters with my grandaughter is hopefully visiting this afternoon, depending on the weather. She'll be coming down the A3 so should be better than the A32 which is the other option, a lovely road in the summer but not so good when it's wet and windy.

The wind is picking up now as predicted, and is stronger than it was overnight, but not much rain so far.

I thought this wind was supposed to subside but it’s still blowing a gale here. Two fence panels blown out with another looking likely to go…tried to make good but it’s far to dangerous to be out there.

Thanks Stephen, you’ve been a good mate over the years…. when can I expect your kind gesture?
Looking at the track of the weather it looks like Shropshire has been one of the worst inland counties to have been hit…and it doesn’t look like its stopping anytime soon.
I’m wondering if Foxy spoke to soon?

Didn't even rain and we had a fantastic sunset to boot. Much ado about not a lot in these parts.

Not if they are coming down from Lancashire…I’m looking for new ones, not the ones Screwy puts back togetheroldbluefox wrote: 07 Dec 2024, 19:33Compared to others we have been lucky. I doubt it would want to be! It's bad enough sharing a border with Lancashire.

A point well made David but screwy comes from Lancashire and Foxy’s idea of sending me his broken panels would give him a macabre sence of satisfaction

Pity that. Screwy was doing me a good deal and I would have been happy to pass on any 'savings' to you.

Much calmer in Anglesey this morning, but still frisky.
