Wimbledon 2025

Unread post by Onelife »

I can’t believe I’ve just spent six hours watching Wimbledon…I think I need to get out more…that being said it was a riveting match between Alcaraz vs Fognini.

Do you know that the players get £90000 prize money, just for reaching round 2?

Its £99000. Either way, not a bad little earner.

It was a great match, you could think it was a final. Once you start watching it draws you in and you’re hooked.

Don't you just…not a game I have ever got into myself but I do enjoy watching it. The Prize money, whilst it seems a lot, I don’t think it is excessive when you consider a lot of professional players struggle to make a living out of the game.

Didn't watch any yesterday - too hot!

Just been reading that there are no line judges at Wimbledon this year - what next? Robots playing tennis?

I thought the new AI electronic line calling worked quite well …I couldn’t make out if the voice calls were AI generated as well?

I spent all day outside, but Sarah popped the telly box on to check programs we watch and did see a few minutes of play. She said it was strange after years of watching Wimbledon, the court looked a bit strange.

David, there was a video a week or two ago on the BBC news app, that showed two robots in a boxing ring fighting each other. I think it was from Japan.

We have a 6mt×4mt gazebo to sit under and a swimming pool to cool off in, although water temperature was 26c yesterday.

A shame that a tradition like line judges have gone. Are P&O sponsoring this year and introduced the cut back :sarcasm: :)
