Breaking the Silence

Unread post by Onelife »

I don’t know if any of you watched this last night but it was a very enlightening documentary about….

"Former MP Kate Kniveton gives a frank and full insight into her experience of being abused and shamed into silence over 10 years by her ex-husband Andrew Griffiths, who was then a Conservative government minister. Kate also meets other high-achieving professional women who were secretly suffering appalling abuse behind closed doors and who, like her, felt there was no way they could escape the relationship. In this powerful documentary for the Exposure strand, Kate also sheds new light on the secretive world of the family court and shows how perpetrators can play the system to continue their abuse and how judges can get it badly wrong when it comes to protecting survivors and their children".

As If the abuse of these women wasn’t bad enough the laws that protects abusive husbands having parental rights to their children who then go on to use their children to mentally torment the mothers of theses children is quite astonishing. I appreciate that abuse can happen the other way round but there are serious questions to be asked as to how judges preside over theses individual cases.

Well worth a watch.
