Are you Prepared ?

Unread post by Portsmouth »

EU have announced strategy to stockpile food, water and medicine across 27-member and calls on all citizens to prepare for war with 72-hour 'survival kits'. France has told hospitals to prepare for major influx of military patients from home and abroad.
Even our Gvt has advised everyone to have at least 3 days of food & water ready
I have been putting aside stuff that is non perishable for the last couple of years.....A good supply of toilet paper as well
I'm not saying there will be a war but it gets increasingly likely (imo) so it might be better have have extra stuff ready because I can remember how people stripped some of the supermarket shelves during covid and it might be an idea to be prepared.

I’m still trying to flog off the stuff I stockpiled over covid…84x25 boxes of toilet rolls, five thousand cans of various tinned produce and any amount of protective clothing you could wish for…bring it on!

Even our own government thinks all we've got up here are mountains, lakes and sheep so we should be pretty safe. I'll get in a few extra bottles of Scotch, a couple of boxes of KitKats and a few bags of salt and vinegar crisps and we should be pretty safe.

Mind you this seems to be coming from French quarters. They don't have much of a track record when it comes to conflict. Maybe if they invested a little more heavily into the defence of Ukraine any threat of war would subside.

Based on their current political predicaments I cannot see that happening any time soon.

Well it's not happened in the past so little chance now. Their PM has gone and Macron is on dodgy ground. Pleased, whether some like it or not, that we have the stability of the Monarchy and our current system rather than this kind of proportional representation bunfight.

Perhaps I should change tact and start knocking out white flags instead of compo forms.

I like the sound of your larder Foxy, especially the whiskey. What’s your address again.

July 18 2025 (Reuters) - Almost a third of Italians believe the country will be directly involved in a war within five years, but only 16% of those of fighting age would be willing to take up arms, a survey showed on Friday.
The survey by the Centre for Social Investment Studies (CENSIS) showed 39% of Italians aged between 18 and 45 would declare themselves as pacifist conscientious objectors, 19% would try to evade conscription another way, and 26% would prefer Italy to hire foreign mercenaries.

I think attitudes would soon change if they had to witness their mothers, girlfriends, children getting raped, butchered and sexual mutilated by their aggressors.

After 19 Russian drones going over Poland next it's Zapad Military exercises....even India are sending a very small contingent to take part.
The Polish military has been preparing for this. They say in the next few days they will have approximately 40,000 soldiers on the border,
The last time Russia and Belarus held major joint military drills in 2022, Moscow sent its troops into Ukraine just days later
While it's unlikely this will happen against Poland this year .....it's possible Russia might decide the time is right in the next couple of years

There is truth in that saying…” if you don’t stand up to bullies, they will grow stronger” It’s obvious Trump has little to no influence over Putin so NATO needs to stand up and be counted.

At something like 180p per litre, we use our bus passes more. Took a trip into the City by bus yesterday, there and back in a couple of hours, spending an hour in the city.
Don't worry, be happy
