Christmas Carols
We do love carol service at Christmas, it brings the joy to most people.
Having just watched the BBC songs of praise carols, how nice to hear them sung in the traditional way that we have known since childhood.
Maybe Princess Katherine may look at who sings at her carol service next year, and think twice about having jumped up pop singers singing carols.
To say the first two offerings were excruciating was an under statement, the faces of the congregation said the same.
It really took the shine off the service. To try and put a spin on carols, someone should listen first and then dish it.
I have never sung a carol were intense facial contortions were required to get out the words, terrible.
A Happy New Year to you all.

Re: Christmas Carols
You’re right Ray. I have never seen such contorted faces over a Christmas Carol. I suppose the young ones liked them but if that’s the best they could come up with I wasn’t impressed by them.
I don’t know whether it is general but up here we really had to hunt around to find a church holding a carol service. In the end we had a half hour’s drive to Loweswater to a little church there which was holding a candlelit service. Considering it’s in the middle of nowhere it was well attended with some lovely carols and readings. Well done Loweswater!!

Re: Christmas Carols
I agree about the three singers in the Westminster Abbey Carol Service, in fact one of them I thought maybe the singer had some problem and it was an achievement for them to appear, if you see what I mean. It was only when I looked to see reviews that I realised I wasn't the only one to think that way. We have several Carol services in the various churches where I live, a traditional Carol service plus a Christingle Service in my local church. I also went to a traditional Carol Service in a neighbouring church which was lovely. Long may the tradition carry on. That doesn't mean I don't like the modern settings for some Carols but in addition to the traditional ones, not instead of.
