Hey Ho

Looks like the Solent has been awarded yet another major Internationale Cruise Terminal

Yes, Portsmouth has an abundance of major players using this very accessible port "turn-around" venue

True, sir, but most of the vessels are a dull grey colour and a very strict dress code is enforced on board....

It's good news for all those who get vertigo anywhere north of the Severn. ;)

It seems that FO and SAGA are the main players at the moment, the Cruise Terminal looks very well thought out

Plus the roads are much better than gaining access to Soton

How exciting is that

neither Fred nor Saga are cruise lines we would use, so no loss
however when we move even further north, Soton might become a trip too far as well and fly cruises will become the norm

Dear Graham,

It's not particularly good news I'm afraid, for me and the very many cruisers based in the north who don't particularly enjoy journeys of hundreds of miles south to join their cruise ships.

Usually at this time of the year the AOTH clan would have our cruises hooked for this summer and next. We are booked on Aurora this summer but currently feel no inclination to spend our hard earned northern pounds with P&O next year and instead are edging towards a package holiday in Turkey. The opportunity to cruise from Portsmouth rather than Southampton isn't going to sway our decision back towards cruising.

Regards
Rob aka AOTH
One day P&O will cruise out of the north.....

Perhaps the siting of a new port in the south is due to the distance the oldies can travel before they need a nap? or perhaps how far a mobility scooter travels before needing re-charching

We would prefer Avonmouth ... Portsmouth is of little interest to us even living in Darzet.

But then ... when we are really old and need to sail with Saga who knows what we will agree to

Nothing so drastic sir, merely that they are unlikely to remember where the ship is.

Next week six shore excursion managers from Royal Carribean International (RCI), based in Miami, will arrive to check Liverpool’s attractions. RCI passengers already rate Liverpool as its top UK destination.

RCI announced MV Celebrity Infinity, owned by its premier brand, Celebrity Cruises, will make nine calls at Liverpool during the next two years. It includes one overnight stay in July 2014 so passengers can visit the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

All of these RCI cruises are originating in Bulgaria. Excursions to the Dole, Housing and Benefits Offices in Liverpool are already a sellout.

Sorry, Ray. Liverpool's a great city.

Went up North just the once

Within mega seconds I realized why so many of our northern cousins migrate to the South for quality living, culture, good food and dinkies, PLUS disciplined behavior
