Email notifications
I'm sure it's me being stupid, but is there a way of NOT receiving email notification when someone has posted after a post I make. I realise I can stop this each time, but is there a way to turn off all notifications?

Re: Email notifications
Go to your User Control Panel (the little cog wheel), select Board Preferences, then Edit posting Defaults and set the last option to "no"

Re: Email notifications
Doesn't always work though.... periodically you may still get some. If this happens, go to the thread which is being notified about, then go to the bottom and click on "Unsubscribe to topic".
I've had to do that again tonight for a particular thread.

An associated question...
How do we stop email notifications arriving when a PM is received?

Thanks David.
I suspect some of these settings are unstable though.

Re: Email notifications
They shouldn't be as it is well established software.
It is sometimes quite easy to accidentally check an option that you do not intend doing - I do it all the time - that's why things go wrong!!!!

Re: Email notifications
I have set the edit posting defaults as admin suggested but I am still receiving e-mail messages on topics I have subscibed to. Should the change take effect immediately or do I need to logoff and back on?

Re: Email notifications
I am also still getting them but only for ' some ' Topics so have to unsubscribe them.towny44 wrote:I have set the edit posting defaults as admin suggested but I am still receiving e-mail messages on topics I have subscibed to. To resolve ...
Goto ... Cog / Manage Subscriptions /
Even though you will not receive notification for New Topics there will be a list of those you watched prior to the changed setting. So to continue ...
Click on ' Mark All ' and then on ' Unwatch Marked ' ..... et Voila
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Re: Email notifications
Thanks, Moby, done that. Hope it works, whilst it's hardly a major problem, I can do without the emails
