On Thursday my credit card provider rang to say they suspected fraudulent transactions on my card and they were going to cancel it and issue a new one. Unfortunately my monthly Sky subscription also got cancelled so I had to ring Sky to arrange a different payment method.

After a fairly prompt 5 minute call to rectify things the Sky agent made the usual parting comment as to whether there was anything else he could do for me. To which I gave the stock answer, you could always give me a price reduction, his reply was hang on a minute and I will check.

Back he came a minute later, how would you like 6 months half price Sky Sports, which I of course graciously accepted.

So my fraudulent card user saved me £63 in the end, not a bad outcome.
