Just watched a recording of the first episode.

Excellent. Worth watching.

When one considers some of the dire Hollywood over CGI'd offerings at Multiplexes it is TV that seems to offer much more mature, considered and entertaining drama.

Very good - dark & atmospheric. Campion has got the New Zealand male Police officers weighed up correctly. My friends moved to Auckland 10 years ago and she went to be a detective in their Child Abuse unit (she did the same in our force for many years) - it took her a long time before they accepted her as she was the first female detective they had worked with in the unit & they thought she wouldn't be up to it, being a woman. She sure wiped the smugness of their faces at a complex trial & got a Judge's commendation for her good work. Now she's accepted as 'one of the lads'.

Must be just me then, it got a good review today in our pape, I thought it was poor. But it is the same director as the film The piano which I thought was pretentious tosh too and it got rave reviews.

Good job we don't all like the same things! Scenery was good though of the Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu. I will try a second episode before giving in
