Insurance Recommendations

Unread post by Ray Scully »

Can anyone suggest a competitive Insurance Co. for an annual holiday policy for those over 65 with some pre existing conditions. The Bank used to do this, (Santander) but they have pulled the plug :-(

If the bank have previously provided your holiday insurance that's not very helpful. We tried Insure & Go, and are looking forward to doing a simple renewal with them.

Not sure how well you will do with annual as they can tend to be quite expensive when you are at a "certain" age with medical conditions.

One company I have found that come out, price wise, better than most is AllClear - but so far have not used them so I have no experience of their service

I'll have a look at Allclear when we sort ours out in early October - and hopefully I'll remember to let you know how we get on.

However, there won't be that much use (maybe) for us in comparing our insurance this year with what we want for next year because one includes USA and the other one doesn't.

Another one to try (they get a WHich magazine best buy) is holiday safe
I have no idea what their age and medical conditions prices are like though.

Hi Ray

We have problems getting insurance as my husband has a pre-existing so whenever the topic crops up and someone suggests a Company I check out how they compare with our current insurers Saga.

Over the last couple of years this is the list I have compiled, they have all quoted a pretty similar premium and whilst in the past we have used Staysure and Getmy.com and have been perfectly happy with the cover we are staying with Saga now purely because we had reason to claim from them for a cancelled cruise and it was all very efficient and easy.

I think like anything you only find out how good a Company is when you have to claim.

Staysure.co.UK
Allcleartravel.co.UK
Free-spirit.com
Travelbility.co.UK
Travelinsured.co.UK ( Incorporates Manor Insurance)
Getmy.com
Globelink.co.UK
Karmaininsurance.com
Miaonline.co.UK
Columbusdirect.co.UK
Deltainsurance.co.UK
Intunegroup.co.UK

Just to add some of these Companies do cover some pre-existings without any additional charge.

That's another one for me to add to my list Ray, I've just done an online quote ( single trip we can't get annual although I will do an annual quote to check ) I did a single trip worldwide incl US and it came out £500 less than any other quote I've had, I was quite impressed how more in depth the questions were compared to other companies, no good for this year as I already have insurance in place but will certainly look at it for next year.

Explorer Travel Insurance. Found it through "Confused.com". Very good, efficient and can do it all on line as well as phoning. Best rates of any I have yet to find. 14 days £264 for both, includes all of our pre med. conditions, and they are many. John

World First are very good, and will often insure for medical conditions, when other companies won't, albei it at a price.

I did an online quote with World First last week and it was very competitive.

Maybe we should start a thread where people tell us which insurance company they used IF they have had to make a claim and more importantly if the claim was met

I had to claim for a cancelled cruise and Saga ( not the cheapest of insurance ) paid out without any problem ( although initially there was a hiccup but that was my fault ) this was a straightforward accident though and nothing to do with the pre existing I have to declare for my husband, I hope that is never put to the test but I do think it is very important to tell the insurers everything even if it means you have to pay a very high premium.
