The best laid plans etc.......

Unread post by GillD46 »

We booked to go to Centre Parc tomorrow with our three children and their respective partners,to belatedly celebrate my 60th - they live in various parts of the world and we are seldom all together. My 91 year old father in law came down to Wales on Monday to spend a few days before we went.

Yesterday morning he slipped in the shower and fractured his head of femur - hip - and dislocated his thumb, and is now waiting until his anti coagulated blood reaches a safe level for him to have surgery,so no Centre Parc

The best laid plans and all that! It just hasn't been a good week for any of us!

Gill so sorry to hear of your father-in-law's accident - it's frightening how easily these things happen - I came back in April from a cruise to discover that morning my 90 year old mother had broken her wrist in a fall but thankfully she has recovered well - I do hope your FIL makes a good recovery.

I can understand your disappointment at not going away with the family having just got back today from a lovely cruise with my youngest son and his family however I'm sure your father-in-law will appreciate you being there for him and hopefully you can celebrate your birthday with the family some time in the future.

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. We wouldn't have even considered going with him as he is, but we won't be able to reschedule as our son goes back to work in Saigon next week. No matter, we will have a meal together on Saturday.

Inthe meatime, f-i-l has just had his surgery and is due back on the ward very soon.

Gill,

What a shame - but here's hoping that your fil has a speedy recovery, and that you enjoy a belated special birthday.

Em :)
