Who to be King???

Last week with my Sister we visited Buckingham Palace, Queen's Gallery and the Stable Mews all as part of the tour on offer. It was very good and certainly technology plays it part to educate you on what there is. I last went in 1995 and I found my diary which shows that I wrote you really have to have the guide book in order to get the most out of it. Whereas today you are handed an iPod type audio device and colourful photos to compliment the viewing.

My reason for this post is my Sister asked an interesting question in light of the most recent addition to the Royal household, George, who will be King one day.

My question is this and it's a sobering thought too. The line of accession is at present The Queen, Prince Charles, William & then George. It is an assumption this will happen but if Prince Charles dies before his mother then in the tradition and the constitution would it be that in fact Prince Andrew would therefore would be King, thereby his daughters would be then in line. If however there is a different ruling to this I would gladly be educated. . Though perish the thought that this line of succession be this one, maybe!!
Any thoughts folks??

Ps just had a thought. Would it be Princess Anne who will be in line if this were to happen?

Melsea, the line of succession is followed .. they just go to the next person in the list.

My wife recently did this tour with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed it, this is my comment on the previous thread re this subject


The line of succession is Charles, then all of Charles' children.
After them comes Andrew, then all of Andrews children
After them come Edward, then all of Edward's children
After them comes Anne, then all of her children.

A death somewhere in that system will not change the system. It just moves everyone a step up. William WILL be king, unless he suddenly dies. That's the only thing that would stop him.

And if William has children, his children will succeed before his younger brother Harry.

I clearly missed the last thread on this.

Yes I thought the line of succession was through the eldest child as per usual after the current monarch.
