MS & Google block abuse pictures

Unread post by Kendhni »

story here
I have mixed feelings about this. Firstly anything that helps is better than nothing but I fear this is mostly playing to the media. I would get the feeling that very few of the more dangerous elements would sit at Google or Bing and type in something to search for .. they will probably use a network of known sites and torrents that try to hide from anybody trying to detect their activity.

Secondly it is the thin end of the wedge with regards to censorship of the web .. which, in general, I am against.

Anything that aims to slam the lid on Child Porn gets my vote.

Some of the ' would be / start up ' weirdos possibly do begin by doing routine searches on the Web, not all of them after all can possibly be blessed with too many brain cells or technical knowledge ... like wot you have.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

It’s got to be a step in the right direction although I would like to see more government “you are being watched” deterrents screened on TV.

Not sure how our illustrious Prime Minister is going to achieve his ambition of removing all child abuse from the Internet and even if he does it will only surface elsewhere. There is an argument to know where it is so that you can monitor who is accessing it.
