Serendipity

Unread post by Frank Manning »

Does anyone remember the duo 'Serendipity' who have played on P&O and Fred Olsen? I had a message on Facebook from Lynn today to say the she and Stuart are splitting up, so Serendipity are no more.

Its a pity because they were a good duo, good music, nice voices, and some witty banter etc. They at least managed to get some passengers into Spinnaker Bar on Arcadia to hear them.

Yes Frank. They were on our Oriana cruise last year. We thought they were pretty good. They were originally supposed to be on the Aurora World cruise but they ended up on the Arcadia. We had the Sophisticated Duo instead, they were good too. My husband has kept up with Serendipity and received the same email saying they were splitting up. I thought they were married, have they ended their marriage too I wonder.

I dont think they were married Emjay. I dont ask those sort of questions these days; too old fashioned, thats me!

Did you see the Isle of Man on Portillo's railway journeys tonight? It loooks a really interesting place. The little steam engine Bee was built in Poole Dorset, I just noticed the plate on the boiler, by the Lewin Engine Company.

Well I never! the Misses' great grandfather was Lewin's partner at the Poole Foundry. Went on to develop a dredger for gold in the Antipodes!

I didn't Frank but I'm going to watch it on the i player. Normally Manx radio tell us when the IOM is featured on the television. I'm surprised they didn't unless of course I missed it. So thanks for letting me know.

She is Frank and Stuart the other half is on Fred Olsen's according to the last email my husband received from him. Do you think anyone cares apart from us. ;)

Hi Em....having fun with the Christmas preparations here!! (sometimes NOT!)

No I dont expect anyone else cares, but I'm still sorry they split up because their voices complimented each other well. I did hear that P&O were not employing any more duos so perhaps that is the reasoning behind it.

Hope its not too windy where you are tonight. Happy Christmas!

I didn't know P&O weren't employing any more duos. We rather liked the 'Sophisticated or Sophistication duo' not quite sure now of the exact name but they were on our 'Worldie'. Pity. It was lovely here yesterday. Calm, Sunny but cold. However gales return tonight. :( We are very lucky compared to those who have been flooded or without power. What an awful Christmas for them.
