What did you get for Christmas?

Unread post by Onelife »

As you know i've had a very difficult run up to christmas, what with electricity repairs, heating repairs , hence the reason i've had to relying on food parcels this christmas. I was amazed what you can get in these parcels. This year's parcel contained a pair of jeans, wool jumper a very nice shirt, and for entertainment i was delighted to receive a galaxy 3 tab on which l am sending this post on.

Oh, and my lovely daughter droped in a book entitled "how to be a good husband" .......do you think she is trying to tell me something?

So what was in your christmas parcel this year?

Regards

OL.

I had a Spa Day, two pairs of trousers, two blouses, a jumper, a necklace, a beautiful sculpted candle, some Molton Brown, a CD and a cake recipe book. So not too shabby.

I got….. A jumper, some moulton brown, a bird feeding station, feed containers and stand, a evening handbag and a tea towel (from my grandchildren's school on to which all the children had drawn themselves!!!!!)

We had a fun time, if very loud and chaotic and the M & S chocolate cakes shaped like Christmas Trees were very rich and lovely.

complete set of "Auf Wiedershen Pet" DVDs, a couple of bottles of wine, Wasgij jigsaw, Joop smellies, amongst other things... I think it's fair to say that the fat bloke in the red jumpsuit performed to expectations!

The usual lump of coal and an orange. Weren't even wrapped.

And the orange turned out to be a painted tennis ball. I was chewing on it for hours before I realised. :(

Certainly is the year of the Tablet, I got one of those Galaxy 3 tabs as well along with a snazzy little case, but not got round to loading up my favourite websites just yet. My stocking also contained a rather nice shirt, gloves and some badly needed new socks, as well as far too many fattening chockies.

We opted to keep Christmas quiet this year and put a load of money into decorating in the house and into the holiday fund (Julie has a big birthday this year and 2015 is a big anniversary).
So, apart from a few stocking fillers, I got a Kindle Paperwhite (to replace my aging Sony - the battery only lasts a few days on it now) and I got Julie another Doug Hyde sculpture for her collection.

The best part was Christmas dinner with Julies family on Christmas day ... and then out with my family on boxing day .. plus we have arranged a big party night out on New Years Eve and nights out in Jan, Feb, Mar and Apr.

I had an Ice Cream Maker and a book on making Silver Clay Jewellery (hoping to go on a course on Silver Clay later in 2014). I had a big expensive present last year so OH got the bigger present this year.....an electric golf cart and a new golf bag. We have a lot to spend on the house next year...new driveway and redecorating plus I have a big birthday containing an "0" and a 45th wedding anniversary early in 2015. Hoping we might spend the anniversary on a cruise, but nothing booked yet.

I had some cd's,dvd's a necklace and earrings, perfume. I had a citizen watch which is waterproof and needs no batteries to wear at destinations, when P&O advise us not to wear expensive watches. The best present I have had is a 'Boogie Board'. I am always writing notes to remind myself of things I need to do. Now I can write them on the Boogie Board and erase them when I've finished.I'm going to be saving loads of trees.

 notes to remind me of things I have to do.....

excerpt from my poem..

"I'd drink my tea in silence, if only she'd allow,
but now she's finding pen and paper; making such a row.
Still, I lie here patiently, hoping to be kissed,
while she sits up in bed and starts to write her daily list."

I'll perhaps send the rest by e mail, but I might get my ears boxed if Sue catches me sendng it.

Well I am typing this very slowly on my new iPad - a combined birthday and Christmas present. I have just been looking at a book called iPad for Seniors! Some of it I understand but the rest will take some time. One thing I find is that when typing it is so slow as I can touch type and am used to typing quickly. I may have to resort to buying a keyboard. If I were to try and send a message when away it would take so much longer than usual. Well back to the book, luckily my daughter can answer questions but she tends to do things very quickly and I get lost! Goodness I feel old! Any advice for a new iPad user would be very welcome.

I had my iPad as a Christmas present a year ago. I absolutely love it. Very rarely use our computer now, everything is done on the iPad. It took me a while to get used to it, but I wouldn't be without it. It went with us on our two cruises this year. I did download an App called iPad Secrets, which I found very useful. I agree about the typing. I also am a touch typist and sometimes get in a muddle. I think this keyboard has a mind of its own and sometimes I find phrases that I have certainly not typed! I have to check things quite carefully! One of the best and most useful presents I have ever received.

Hello Keefy, I hope you had a lovely Christmas.

Santa bought me a telescope. I am hoping for a clearish sky tonight as it will be my first opportunity to have a play with it.

Love and best wished to the girls.

Get yourself a stylus pen Carole. Makes messaging allot easier. Cheap as chips from Amazon.

Stephen - I'm glad the Ibuprofen worked

I use a stylus for texting - long fingernails don't help  As I said to Carole, I will persevere. This is my third attempt so I am off
