I seem to remember that was a regular occurrence and the security implications of that was the other reason I didn't renew my membership

Seems to be a problem using Internet Explorer. Works OK using other browsers like Chrome or Safari.

I joined 2 days ago so its probably my fault - but I still prefer this one. One thing I noticed, it said that if you click the PO link and book a cruise through that link then Crows Nest gets a donation/commission. Does that happen on this site?

I had a bit of an issue regarding security & Crows Nest a couple of years ago. I didn't use it again after that

Sadly not - but I am always open to donations (preferably in plain envelopes)

I use to be a member, rejoined after a couple of crashes, then it crashed again about 2 years ago and I have never bothered to rejoin.

Much my experience Delboy.

Perhaps Smurfy if you renamed this site after a part of one of the P&O ships (in the same way as Crow's Nest do) that would secure funding?

Perhaps we should offer suggestions. I'd start with Life Boat, since that is what you provided here when the old site went down. 8-)

In which case, gfwgfw, entice them to come over here with you, and we can all chat to them too.

Not fair them having to suffer an inferior forum without all the fine guys and gals here (and the other duffers, but we won't mention them.

that there were no back ups, and protection for passwords and email addresses.

there was info posted - personal stuff as well as holiday dates - which seemed to have no protection - even on 'private' threads like roll calls.

I might have been worrying unnecessarily, but after the umpteenth time it went belly up with a server problem and no rescue plans in evidence I decided to pick up my tent and move out

Hi Kenmo.

I don't remember exactly, but the whole site had to be taken offline for a while. It has happened before too, so at that point i decided not to rejoin.

Oddly enough, the security protection on my pooter at work doesn't like the site at all - but that's not to say that there actually is a problem with it, of course.

I have the odd look at Crow's Nest but just recently the security on my computer would not let me go there. So there obviously is some sort of problem on that site.

Thanks for all the answers to my question about security issues on Crows Nest. I think I will give it a miss for now. I didn't find it so easy to get around as this one and not so interesting.
