Re: Gumtree
No, but I had a look on their website a while ago for something, and I didn't like it one iota.

Re: Gumtree
Yep.
Sold a BBQ and patio heater last year on Gumtree.
If you want to get the best results, upload an image or images of the product. People like to see what they are buying as well as a description.
Be honest about the item you are selling, and give a rough idea of where you live so potential customers know if you are round the corner or a hundred miles away. And always add in the description 'Buyer Collects' so there is no misunderstanding.
I like the site, and currently have an item on there for sale. And the best bit is it's free.

Re: Gumtree
We have used Gumtree very successfully. We make sure we use the local site to make sure there is no problem with pick ups. We picked up a greenhouse and a cold frame for the allotment which turned out to be in the next road.
When we moved home and downsized we had several rooms of furniture that we couldn't take. With the furniture we had a 2 hour sale period for 3 nights which turned out very good. Genuine buyers accept the price you are asking and we had no time wasters.

I have had mixed results with this website. We use it to advertise for staff and, ocasionally, get someone good. We have advertised our services but find the majority of people who look in and ring want the job done for next to nothing.
As for selling - this was where my son-in-law sold his last car and he had horrendous problems with the buyer. Kept ringing up saying there were faults with the vehicle and wanted some or all of his money back.

Have never sold anything on Gumtree BUT a few years ago we found a very good handyman/gardener on that site.
We employed him for a long time until he dug up all my raspberry canes!!!

Re: Gumtree
I have used gumtree on a few occasions ... mostly with success .. other times I ended up dumping the stuff (I now refuse to give to those parasitic organisations that go under the term "freecycle").
What is nice about gumtree is that you can find things in your area. It was very easy to use.
