TV Adverts
Just watched a rather sweet Monarch advert and it got me thinking what adverts do you love, hate, miss, make you laugh or perhaps even bring a tear to your eye
I loved the yellow pages advert when Ned gets called in to the office and thinks he is going to get the sack 'cause he is too old and instead gets a sit on lawn mower - Bless

Re: TV Adverts
To be absolutely honest we try our hardest not to watch any of them ... we seem to mainly watch the BBC channnels but those that are ' with adverts ' will result in either one of us having a finger poised on the ' Mute ' button.
All our recordings will be partially deleted to remove the adverts prior to being viewed.

Don't watch adverts if I can help it - always a good excuse to channel hop. But like Moby, generally watch the Beeb - but when I'm tempted over to commercial channels - always channel hop through the ads.

Re: TV Adverts
Just a few minutes ago I muted the sound on that dreadful advert where the man shouts at you about Cillit Bang! Can't stand adverts where they think if they shout at you you are more likely to buy the product. The same goes for that other dreadful man in an awful coat who shouts about buying doubleglazing. Those are my two big hates.
When Downton Abbey was on I usually watched it later on Playback as it removes all the adverts.

I pretty much hate just about every advert, although I have laughed at the meerkat ones, I also like the tea adverts with the Monkey, just seen one with two silly girls advertising Ariel, which her mum sent down (what? she lives in the middle of nowhere?) it's just so contrived. I also hate sexy car adverts - erm it's just a flippin' car ! Don't like the it's-too-obtuse-for-its-own-good Guinness adverts either.

But Carol....the Downton adverts featured P&O, with beautiful people in lovely clothes strolling round empty ships & diving into sparkling empty pools.....

Re: TV Adverts
Sometimes the adverts are better than the programmes but I don't have a clue what they are advertising, so that's a waste.
I enjoyed the meerkats, and that wonderful lady who advertised Crabbie's. A while back there was a lovely one with a boy and a dog advertising Oreo biscuits. I do agree some of them are pretty nauseating, especially Carole's double glazing chap and the Michael Winner insurance ones were cringeworthy.
My current favourite is of a couple sitting in their lounge/conservatory. The gentleman is dressed rather colourfully, in a golfing fashion. His wife is bemoaning what he is wearing and finishes by scathingly saying 'You look like a clown!'Not a clue what they are advertising but very amusing.

Re: TV Adverts
There was an advert a few years ago featuring two couples, obviously towards the end of a dinner party at one couple's house. The hostess was not unattractive, the guest was drop-dead gorgeous.
The host comes back in from the kitchen and his wife says "we were just discussing wife swapping" and his eyes light up in eager anticipation. She continues "we were just saying how disgusting it is". The look on his face as he tries to express agreement was priceless.
His facial expressions were so funny, I've got no idea what the commercial was advertising!

I like that one where the chap goes to throw out an old toy of the dog and the dog comes along and clicks the remote control to play an advert (can never remember what it is advertising though) ... there are several similar in the series.

I think it might be advertising an ad agency or similar!!Kendhni wrote:I like that one where the chap goes to throw out an old toy of the dog and the dog comes along and clicks the remote control to play an advert (can never remember what it is advertising though) ... there are several similar in the series.

I reckon an advert hasn't really worked if you can't remember what it's for LOL
