Another Good Result

Unread post by david63 »

Just had our car insurance renewal and, not unsurprisingly, I was not happy with the price. Did a bit of research and found that if I took out a new policy with the same company I could save just under £100 - so a half hour's phone call of being handed from one person to the next resulted in new policy and £100 saving

Drinks are on me - or they would be if I wasn't driving

Crazy isn't it David. They want to keep your custom but it's you that has to do all the work to save money. A good end result though.

There use to be a time when if you said you were leaving because you got a better deal elsewhere they would bend over backwards to keep your business. Now they couldn't care less.

Has anybody tried that trick with ' More th>n ' ... would hate to call their bluff and lose one's hard earned ' free bumps for life ' policy.

I always ignore the renewal notice they send you;it's always cheaper to just take out a new policy. They rely on people just accepting the renewal because it's easier and less personal hassle

I always shop around for house and car insurance (also other insurances that we have, boiler, drains etc),and once I have the quotes I ring our present insurer, press the button that connects me to, 'those who are leaving', and hey presto, they find a better deal and match the price. It shouldn't have to be like that...............reward your loyal customers NOT newbies!!!

We have had, due to a price match guarantee with our car insurance company, a great deal each year and it was only last year that we changed house insurers form John Lewis to M&S who provided the same cover, more cover in some areas, especially for valuables away from home; the price increase this year was just a few pounds and, even going back to JL as a new customer, M&S could not be beaten.

Also take into account cashback on various sites such as QuidCo; plus cashback on credit cards etc.

It just so happens l renewed our house insurance yesterday. Oue current insurer (LV) had sent a qoute which reflected what we had paid the previous year, nethertheless l thought is worth the trouble to get another qoute so decided to get a qoute from our current car insurer. Having spent ten minutes relaying details back to her she finally came up with a quote nearly double that of our present insurer. "Thats nearly double what l've been qouted by my present insurer l exclaimed" Hold on lets see if we can do somthing.....within a few seconds she came back with a qoute comparable to what we had been qouted.....with that l asked her what colour underwear she was wearing  ....but she declined....as did l .

Regards

OL

I've just changed house insurers. More than wanted £339 but got a better policy including bells and whistles for £204. It sure pays to shop around nowadays. Told More than we were not renewing with them and they put the phone down.

Today's result - saved another £90+ on the buildings/contents. Just take out a new policy with the same company - simples.

£200 in two days for 45 minutes on the phone is not bad in my book

Providing the terms are the same or better.

It's easy to get a cheaper quote but then later find out the excesses are higher or the cover isn't quite as good or your dealing with our old friend Harry Gupta in Bombay. Always check like for like in the policy details before renewing.
