So Sir Bruce is to step down from the main Strictly format. He has been a great entertainer over the decades, but the cracks were starting to show. So who should replace him? My vote would go to someone with a sense of humour and some dancing knowledge, so for me it has to be Anton du Bec.
In fact the Beeb could take the opportunity to replace the "game-show hostess" (sorry, can't remember her name; Vernon Kaye's wife). I wonder if Erin Boag has any presenting skills? Bec and Boag - the dream team?

Anyway he has not gone completely as he will still be doing "one off specials" such as Christmas and Children in Need.

He has been a great entertainer in the past, and for many years was top of his profession. His style of humour is now so outdated and the time for him to go was well overdue.

Wish him well in the future, thank him for his entertainment which I have enjoyed in the past, and hope he now has time to enjoy his retirement with some quality time spent with his family

Sad to see him go, but he was getting a bit past it. Hopefully he will make one last farewell appearance.

Never been a fan of Brucie and he was becoming more and more a liability as the years rolled on. Please not Graham Norton - too OTT for my liking. I would love to see Anton du Bec take over and if not, how about Paddy McGuinness?

As he will still be doing one-off specials, I don't think he was pushed. However, he can't have been unaware of the recent criticism of his performance, so maybe that affected his decision.

Apparently he would refuse to meet his fans outside the dressing room until he had put his jacket on and was "properly attired". A real gentleman of the old school.

I liked Brucie and was one of the old school entertainers who didn't bore me stiff. I don't care who takes his place because the program won't be the same without him......good on yeah Brucie

In the last series Brucie was really struggling wasn't he? He had several weeks off, and I suspect his leaving was by mutual agreement with himself and the BBC. A gracious departure, with no bad feelings. Who's to follow? du Beck would be a good choice in my opinion. He could bow out of the dancing, but not out of the show. He must be the oldest of the professional dancers, so maybe it is time for a change for him too.

Anyway, we will see very soon, I am sure.

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses have announced that Claudia Winkleman will host the upcoming series of the dance contest, replacing Bruce Forsyth who quit the show earlier this year.

Claudia is no stranger to ‘Strictly’ and has been presenting the Sunday night results show alongside Tess Daly for a number of years. She has also stood in for Bruce on a number of occasions.

IMO a poor choice, I think she's a terrible presenter but I'm sure she has her fans .. I'm just not one of them
