Summer here on the Gower Peninsula is wonderful. Yes there are holiday makers, but on the whole they are families enjoying themselves. Traffic hasn't been too bad. The weather has been glorious - and I wouldn't be anywhere else.

It's even been too hot in the north east. Today it has clouded over with a nice cool breeze.

The Garden of England is always sunny (even when it's not)
I think I may have been an Aboriginee in a previous life because the heat rarely bothers me.
I seriously hate being too cold.

I think I'm just about back on track but getting fit again and combatting the heat whilst so doing is a bit much - not to mention the pram pushing exercise!
However, things are going fine, parts of the garden looking neglected, but that's down to my health etc., however our tomatoes are just starting to turn red.

So HOT in rural Darset that we recently went to rural Hampshire to ride upon the open top Buses that circulate around the New Forest ... had an ice cream as well
Also had a super lunch in our favourite watering hole in Lymington, plus a timely ice cold Japanese pint of lager and another meal and a pint or two in a pub ( White Hart ? ) in Cadnam early evening.
And I'm still too bloody hot

Yes super weather. Very busy all the time though....whoever coined the phrase retirement (?)....I nevr get time! Did have a great day out at the Ageas Bowl for 2nd test against India yesterday though and witnessed some superb cricket by England including a brilliant display of out fielding by sub Sean Terry. Cricket isn't all about limted overs slogging; it is possible to appreciate other subtle (to some) skills in the game.

The White Hart in cadnam is a good pub MOB. Which one to you frequent in Lymington? We used to like The Fishermans Rest, but The Angel Hotel is good, and The Mill at Gordleton is also very good.Manoverboard wrote:So HOT in rural Darset that we recently went to rural Hampshire to ride upon the open top Buses that circulate around the New Forest ... had an ice cream as well![]()

Love The Mill at Gordleton - it's in such a pretty location with its resident duck and the food is lovely - no not the duck! We were in Dorset last Saturday and it was so hot we couldn't do anything but lounge in the shade drinking Rose wine - sorry can't get the accent on the 'e'. It's been far too hot for me - Monday was quite a relief when it was much cooler but the heat was back yesterday. Mind you I'd be moaning like anything if it was raining - we English are just contrary I suppose.

Glad it's cooled down a bit today. It's been hot as hell here in the South East. A nightmare trying to sleep at night.
Still, mustn't grumble, it'll soon be winter and I can get the open fire going

Lunch was at the Stanwell House Hotel
I had a Thai chicken variation at the White Hart, excellent but not enough sauce. They said to ask for a side dish of extra sauce next time

Re: How is your Summer ?
Having a fantastic summer here in Mid-Wales.
Enjoying lots of barbecues, al-fresco dining and relaxing in the sun on the new garden swing.
Having to go out early in the morning and late at night with the dogs to avoid the heat.
And have just started enjoying the first cucumbers and tomatoes from the greenhouse.
I love it
Michele
PS. Forgot to mention all the ice cream I'm eating

Yes Stanwell House is another great place for food in Lymington. There was a time when the White Hart was a bit of a dive, but it has looked up a bit in the last few years.Manoverboard wrote:Frank,Frank Manning wrote:The White Hart in cadnam is a good pub MOB. Does anyone know what the Shoulder of Mutton is like these days (on the Ringwood Road, Poole side of Bear Cross)?

At the risk of high jacking this thread, we are in Dorset on 8 Sept and need somewhere really nice for a meal. We are staying at Lulworth Cove, but don't mind a 20 min or so drive.... recommendations please.

Consider afternoon tea if the evening fare is too expensive for your tastes.

The Guldhall tavern sited in Old Town Poole is a good venue
But prebooking is essential
