Counting Down.....

Well Iv checked in and have printed our boarding passes...but it's with a rather heavy heart and wondering how it will pan out.
The hotel we have booked has been suffering from a sickness bug the last few weeks...it was still going on last week..although Thomson Holiday has said no new cases have been reported this week.
There are some really bad reviews....
Some excellent ones too I have to say.
We knew it is only a 3-4* rating, but it got rave reviews for the kids clubs, kids reps, location to the beach etc. which was the most important..having 7 children, 6 and under.
The rooms are ok....food ok... AI and catering for the British holiday maker.
I keep checking Trip Advisor..... Maybe I shouldn't..
Thomson Holiday are aware of the problem and have teams in place now...but it really has took the shine off the lead up.

Don't believe everything you read on Trip Advisor (unless I posted it ). Some of the reviews of our favourite hotel are so far removed from reality, I wonder if the reviewers are talking about a different hotel...

We once went to a Majorca hotel that was pretty bad, it was when we only had two small children and I was pregnant with the third. We couldn't afford to change hotels ourselves and Thomson's wouldn't move us as they didn't accept there was a problem. We simply ate out for EVERY SINGLE meal - even breakfast - despite being on full board, and actually had a wonderful time.

What I'm saying is, you'll be with your family so I'm sure you'll be able to overcome anything lacking in the hotel and still have a great time.

a hotel affected by Noro is no one's idea of fun - specially with small children.

Gill, the cost of a change..whilst would be quite a lot..isn't the problem.
There are 15 of us...Thomson's are aware there is a problem. But unless we decided to separate..they couldn't put us together.
So....we are just going to make the best of it!!!!

Sue, Fingers crossed things improve for you.

You will soon weigh up the situation for yourself and can take some steps to ensure everyone is ok . It might mean avoiding the pool and pre cooked foodI but if it means eating out and spending all your time on the beach I am sure the little ones will have a whale of a time. Thomson's kiddies clubs and entertainers are usually pretty good which should be safe enough.

Think on the positive side, the grown ups may worry but the children will be oblivious to any problem so go and enjoy a wonderful time with your family.

Our hotel is mentioned in the local press today... As well as a hotel in Majorca. 20 people were ill there, 50 in hotel in Majorca.
People are seeking compensation for contracting the bug.


There have been no new cases since last week and the last few reviews have been very good.

I'm prepared...got lots of Imodium.. Dioralyte...calpol..etc etc..

And....seemingly they make the best Mojitos in Menorca at €2.50 each...

So just gonna drink them all day and the bug will be pickled before it can have any effect....

That's the idea Sue. Drown the bu99ers in booze. I'd also steer clear of any Paella, not that I like the stuff, and leave out the ice in drinks. It might also be worth giving any salad a miss until the all clear is given. Basically, fill your suite case with sandwiches and loo rolls and take a large hip flask of your favourite tipple

Stephen, thanks for your advice...
But I don't think for one minute it's the food or drink.
The hotel has had an independent health and safety check and they are doing all they should/can and more.
It seems to the same problem as always, lack of personal hygiene.
People not washing hands, using gel that is provided, letting kids use the pool when poorly.
What I will say is..let anyone dare not use it in front of me.. cos I WILL pull them and point it out to them!!!

I would be the same Sue - some people's hygiene standards are so poor - I would have to very loudly point out the gel etc.

I'm sure if you are all careful you will be fine - you did make me laugh about the booze though - I can just imagine you knocking back the Mojitos in defiance
