Re: Time to Own Up ...
Not the postcode. But I live in Wales, in a village with the same name as the top location in Wales, but 1hr 30 min away.

Re: Time to Own Up ...
The Isle Of Wight falls down on education, employment opportunities and housing affordability so we don't qualify but our scenery is pretty stunning and some nice beaches so I guess that makes up for some of our shortcomings.

Re: Time to Own Up ...
Clearly my postcode must be the most desirable for others, but it doesn't figure in the Royal Mail list.

The SA4 area west of Swansea is an area I know well - living in SA3- and I can't imagine WHAT they have based it on if that beats us. It's nowhere near as sought after.
And Tidworth? Amazing!

I live in a desirable area, thought not one listed in the media today, which is why I am keeping quiet about its whereabouts to keep the riff raff away!

I think Merv is referring to everybody else Smurfy.
St Bees in 3rd spot. I'd rather live where I do. It makes you wonder who dreams these things up.

I doubt Chesterfield would ever be on the 'desirable' list although we do have that 'Big Posh House' just down the road

My post code is extremely desirable simply because I live there

Desirable or not, I would live on Cowes Parade willingly, provided I had a garage. For me, those views of the Solent, the history, and that beautiful fragrance of rotting seaweed...pure nostalgic heaven.Kenmo1 wrote:The Isle Of Wight falls down on education, employment opportunities and housing affordability so we don't qualify but our scenery is pretty stunning and some nice beaches so I guess that makes up for some of our shortcomings.

Well I love it Maureen!
I was born there. My Mum went to Denmark Road School, in the same era as Cliff Michelmore, and Frank Beken, and my Grandad worked at John Samuel Whites all of his life.
We go back to the island at least once a year, and will be there for a week in September.

Frank - I thing East Cowes out pongs West Cowes for rotten seaweed.
I was based on the top floor of the J S Whites building when I worked for Social Service and there was an amazing view until someone built a huge block of expensive flats right in my view. I can remember (when I still had a clear view) seeing the SS Norway go elegantly past the window - it seemed to go on forever.
Having found the Waterside Pub (used to be the Harbour Lights years ago) which had excellent views from the upstairs terrace, it has now been knocked down and they are building yet another block of luxury flats there. Soon there will just be blocks of flats all along there and certainly none of the locals will be able to afford them.
