Leather cleaner?

Unread post by GillD46 »

Can anyone recommend an efficient, but nourishing leather cleaner for our white sofas and chair?

It kept very, very clean in our last house, because we only used that room at weekends, but since we've "downsized" homes, we use the furniture far more often and it's starting to look less than pristine.

I want something I can use often, that won't dry out the leather. Any recommendations please?

I shall have a look in my conservation of leather book and get back to you.... and I am not joking... I have a couple of books on it and will see if there is anything that you can buy over the counter.

My leather sofas are brown and are soft leather.
I use Johnsons baby wipes, but MUST be the ones with lanolin.

I got a leather cleaning kit with our suite ... or to be more accurate I got about 4 of them (because I knew the shop assistant) ... it seems to be quite good ... if I remember later I will try to look up the make.

Having said that we also have one very leaky dog so it is cleaned much more regularly than one would normally expect a leather suite to be cleaned.

Have just reviewed my gimp suit collection and I am afraid I can't helpmuch. One of my leather cleaning kits is labelled 'Master leather' and the others are Harveys own brand.

I would maybe suggest looking on Amazon to see if they have anything,

Google Furnitureclinic.co.uk

Lorraine purchased a Leather Care Kit from them cost £25, however cannot guarantee how good it is, because as much as Lorraine nags me, I have not got round to using it yet.

Better be good at that price.

Furniture clinic is in Newcastle.

Our leather suite is aniline leather, their are diffent types of leather suites, make sure you use one suitable for your suite.

I think Onelife is the best person to ask about cleaning leather! ;-)
