Proof of posting.

Unread post by Not so ancient mariner »

Today I discovered that the Post Office's 'proof of posting' slip is no longer worth the paper it is printed on.

No doubt to encourage customers to pay up for their 'signed for' service, they have ceased putting the destination postcode on the proof of posting slip. All it has is EU (UK).

So all you get is proof that you posted something on that date to somewhere in the UK.

I can't see that being a lot of use in the event of the posted item failing to arrive!

and allowing that frequently the 'signed for' is just stuffed through the door, that's not worth much either

We had a "signed for" stuffed through the door a while back. It wasn't even for an address in the same street.

I wonder if printing the postage online would give a more acceptable (and enforceable) proof of postage?
