iPad Users ??? & Help.
Do you use an IPad, If so I wonder if you can help me resolve a problem I have with mine at the moment.
It shows under settings and usage I have used 8.6 GB and have available to use 3.9 GB, I realise of rest of my 16 GB capacity, is taken up with the IPads set up.
My problem is of the 8.9 GB of usage, it is showing 1.7 GB as being photographs/camera. I have no photographs saved on my IPad and my camera roll is empty. Any photos I did have I have moved to a folder on my desktop computer and hard drive.
Even when I sync my IPad to my desktop computer, it still shows my my IPad photograph app as empty, but again under usage shows I have used 1.7 GB for photographs.
They are not stored under cloud either, as I still have 4.3 GB available from my free total available of 5 GB.
Any ideas appreciated, I have done a reset all settings which has made no difference, but don't want to do an erase all contents and settings, as it would mean having to download everything again including passwords etc.

When you say that you have done a reset, is that a complete shutdown? Hold down the power button until you see a slider, then wipe this across and the ipad will do a complete power-off. This willtake a few seconds. Then hold down the power button again and everything will be reloaded. This will not clear your passwords and data. You should also get rid of all running programs by double-pressing the HOME button and wipe all the programs off to the top of the screen. If you do the reset described above you won't need to do this. If all else fails then you can do a full backup in iTunes. If you make a secure backup with a password then all your program settings will be restored. Be careful with backups in Itunes, I always rename each one that I make because iTunes can overwrite any previous backups.
Good Luck!

It looks as though I will have to do a full backup in iTunes. Although I have been reluctant so far to do this.
Have done what you suggest, with the slider and Power off button, plus I have also done a
reset of all settings, no joy still showing I have 1.7 GB of photos, when my photo album is in fact empty. Have checked all my apps and deleted all my Emails, still no joy.
It also reduces my total download capacity by this amount, I only have 3.9 GB of space when I should have 5.6 GB.

Re: iPad Users ??? & Help.
Just a thought. There is a deleted photo area on an ipad. Have you emptied it?

Try this:
http://apple.stackexchange.com/question ... t-have-any
Have a look at 'RECENTLY DELETED' photos. They may still be there somewhere.

Re: iPad Users ??? & Help.
Thanks for your suggestions, I was aware there is a deleted photo's page, where photos which are deleted are kept for a further 30 days, I always empty this page at the same time as I originally delete a photo.
Looking at iTunes on my Desktop computer, other than my apps, 4.05 GB of my usage is shown as other, unfortunately it does not show what other consists off, certainly no mention of photography's as per the Ipad.

Re: iPad Users ??? & Help.
The following is interesting to the photo I posted earlier, which shows my photo sharing Flik'r app taking up 1.1 GB of storage and my total storage available of 3.8 GB.
Tonight I deleted the Flik'r app and re installed it, look at the following photo and see what a difference its made to the figures. Flik'r instead of taking up 1.1 GB of storage it now only takes up 191MB of storage and storage available has increased from 3.8 to 5.0 GB.
App works fine and still gives me access to all the contents of the app.
I still have 1.7 GB of photos in my empty photos folder though, cannot delete and reinstall the photo app on its own.

Re: iPad Users ??? & Help.
One of the entertainments team gave a series of IPad talks on Oceana. I went along although I have an Android tablet.
A couple of things he said surprised me.
1. you can't delete images that were taken with other devices and transferred to the IPad
2. when you delete images on the Ipad you are only deleting the 'pointer' to that image, not the actual bits and bytes in memory
If this is true eventually all your storage is used up, at which point you buy another IPad !!!
He also said apple had 90% of the market but I believe it is about 38%. Because of this I am not sure if he was giving correct information.

Re: iPad Users ??? & Help.
Just googled it. are you using the iCloud photo library? If you are icloud will download them back to your iPad even if you have deleted them - confused! Apparently you can change a setting on iCloud so it only downloads thumbnails.

Re: iPad Users ??? & Help.
Don't use iCloud for photos, still have 4.3 GB available to use out of my free 5GB of iCloud on my iPad.
Personally I don't take photos with my iPad, I take them using a camera and transfer them to my iPad from the camera memory card via the following Apple adaptor.

I have taken hundreds of photos using this method, helps keep them more secure and leaves more room on the memory card for taking more photos.
I have had no problem then transferring them to my desktop computer's hard drive when I get home (firstly deleting those I don't want to keep), I do this on a regular basis.
For some reason this time whilst the transfer was OK, my IPad still shows I have 1.7 GB of storage of photos, even although the photo's folder is empty, 1.7 GB I cannot use for anything else.
The interesting thing is, when I connect my iPad to iTunes on my Desktop this 1.7 GB is shown as other, but no details.
Just to add I have tried most of the things recommended on the net, but nothing seems to work to delete this. I did delete my Flik'r app which was showing 1.1 GB of usage, when I re installed it, that usage has reduced to 190 MB. Cannot delete the photo app.

I have an iPad Derek.
I assume there is a factory reset somewhere, as a last resort.
