Although it's nothing to do with cruising per se, I thought this was worth sharing.
Enjoy!!

Amazing - such skill and the end results were beautiful but like Frank I found it very calming. I must get a recording of that music - might help me to sleep

Oddly enough I found just watching it quite absorbing but what beauty in the finished article.

Hi OBF

The first thing l thought about when watching this link was when we did an excursion to Servile where we visited the Royal Palace. You will no dobht be aware that the palace walls are adorned with hundreds of thousands of hand made tiles.....watching your link really makes you realise what craftmanship goes into making such things of beauty

Thanks, l found it very interesting

Regards

Keith

My thought was - why did they not cut the shapes out before firing the tiles when the clay was soft and easy to cut?

Perhaps the clay might shrink?

Not if they cut them oversize

True, but could they guarantee the right amount of shrinkage? Anyway, it was just a guess which might be wildly inaccurate

Youre spot on the money Silver Shiney, even with the high tech ovens we have in the pottery trade here in the U.K. the temperature when firing can vary slightly. These craftsmen are firing with sawdust and there must be a wide range of shrinkage.

Cutting to size is the only way of getting perfection, has anyone on here tried tiling a wall with hand made artisan tiles ?, I have and it's a frustrating job due to variation if they have not been machine cut.

Thanks for the link Old Blue I could watch this all day.
