How exciting, it's Richard III
It`s been confirmed that the remains of Richard 111 have been found buried in a council car park in Leicester. But do you think he was one our most evil Monarchs? Personally, I don`t think he did any worse than most of them who ruled.

Re: How exciting, it's Richard III
I was listening to a couple of people on the radio tonight p, one who believed he was bad and the other a menber of the Richard III society, who believes he was not guilty. It was interesting to listen to but the bottom line seems to be that it will be impossible to find out if he was innocent or guilty

Re: How exciting, it's Richard III
We've been watching this unfold for a couple of months - and I am really pleased that the work put in by all the academics and researchers has proved them right that the deceased was Richard lll . At the end of the day it is possibly a good thing that the reign of the Plantaganets came to an end because the influence of the Tudor dynasty did alot for this country. Just think, if Richard lll had died in battle and the two Princes had been alive we would have been in for a whole load of further factions and battles etc.
Hope I haven't offended any - certainly don't mean to.
I can't understand though why the ceremony for the reinterrment won't be until next year - it's not as if further research will reveal who killed him or whether he was involved with the two Princes in the Tower situation.
Much good can come out of this situation - with the obvious potential for increased visitor numbers for Leicester and the new museum which will now house a whole load of pertinent artifacts.

Those Academics that poo-hoo'd the possibility of him being under the tarmac certainly got some egg on their faces.
We just want his remains back now - so he can rest where he wished to.

Hi Romig,
I can't see the King being moved out of Leicester - apparently according to the law he has to be reinterred in the nearest church - which is obviously Leicester Cathedral. It's a shame for all those who want him back in York, but it's the law.

Just been watching our local news. Contrary to what I had read previously, the expert was saying that there is only circumstantial evidence that he wished to be buried in York.
I think you may be right Em.

Very exciting for us here in Leicester - been following the dig few weeks back when they first suspected it was the King - used to park my car for work in the car park where they found him

As they already have a memorial tomb in Leicester Cathedral surely it is fitting that he be buried there. Also it has been said today that arrangements are already in hand.

I'm not sure that York ever had a better team.
Failing that, Huddersfield is only about 50 miles away, so his remains would be near-ish his favourite team.
A well-known Terrrier was old Dickie3 (as we used to call him around here).

Re: How exciting, it's Richard III
There were all manner of stories circulating as to what had become of him, one being that his body was thrown into the river. The team who discovered him are to be congratulated about what is wonderful news, solving a riddle which has existed over the centuries.

I'm just waiting for PTE to come along and claim Dickie3 was a Palace fan and should be buried at Selhurst Park

Personally I was not interested in this, but Lorraine wanted to watch the TV programme, it's on at the moment, and I am finding it very interesting.

I've just been watching the C4 programme.
It was very interesting, and I'm delighted it turned it to be RIII, I think he is one of our most interesting kings.
