Re: Dogs are funny at times
My mum used to buy her dog bones at the butcher and then freeze them. One day, she pulled one out and gave it to the dog, forgetting to defrost it first. The dog wouldn't touch it and it took her a few minutes to realise what the problem was. She held it under a running tap for a few minutes and gave it back. Thereafter, the dog wouldn't touch his bone unless she'd held it under a tap, regardless of whether it was frozen or not.
She brought the dog to our place one day and we had a large leg of lamb. After carving the meat off, I reckoned there was enough space for the dog to have one end of the bone and our cat the other end. The cat went for the bone no problem but the dog wouldn't touch it until I'd held it under the tap. I then gave it back to the two pets. That was the only time ever that that dog chased our cat away.
On another occasion, when I was in the Middle East, I sent back a recording of one of my radio shows. The dog went nuts, going round the back of the speakers trying to find me.
