Tumble Dryer Recall/Modification
I nearly posted this a couple of days ago, but thought everyone would have read about it and didn't. However, I've now discovered that many seem to have no idea about it and I would hate any of you to have a fire. Don't think it won't be your appliance - my dryer, plus my daughter's, have a potential problem.

Re: Tumble Dryer Recall/Modification
Checked ours earlier anniec and it does fall into the faulty batch. Up to 5 weeks before you could be contacted but they stress it is still safe to use providing you don't leave it unattended. Our is a vented type dryer and resides in the garage.
My neck is going to be sore from watching it go round and round for an hour+

Re: Tumble Dryer Recall/Modification
All tumble dryers regardless of make are a potential fire hazard and should be serviced regularly, any one who has one will know how much 'fluff' gathers in the filters so should also be aware that 'fluff' gathers where you can't see it, if serviced regularly there shouldn't be a problem but how many people ignore regular servicing as long as 'something' is working ok

Speaking of fire hazards, I called in at our local Vauxhall dealership yesterday, and you couldn't move in the car park for Zafira Bs awaiting their heater motor checks. Guess what car I have........: - but it has climate control, and so is not one of the models affected.

Re: Tumble Dryer Recall/Modification
I service six Beco tumble dryers in rental properties and all are vented through the wall, I have a home made suction pipe that fits onto my Nilfisk vacuum and you would be amazed at the amount of fluff I collect from the vents. I also clean my son and daughters dryers out and surprisingly the daughter is the worst offender for not cleaning the filter out.
On the subject of Zafira's I traded my trusty old 7 seater in for an Hyundai last month and I do miss the old banger which never let me down once.
We hired an Opel Zafira in Malaga a few years ago which started to smoke while going up the steep road up to Mijas and we were there for hours before the hire company came to our rescue. When the agent arrived he said you should never have the aircon on while climbing up steep hills as it overloads the motor. All Zafira owners look in your owners manual and see if you can find the warning to switch off the aircon when going up hill cos I couldn't find it.

Re: Tumble Dryer Recall/Modification
Thank you anniec!
After your post I checked my drier, and although 8 years old it fell into the category that needed attention. I got a response to my submission in December or January saying they would come to do the modification in.....August! Then a fortnight ago they offered me a new machine for £99. Thinking of gift horses and mouths I said "Yes" and took delivery this morning. All thanks to you.
