Building & Contents Insurance
I am looking around at a different insurance company as our current one LV, although good, and we have been with then for years, is getting too expensive.
I found online through 'Compare The Market' a company called 'One Call Insurance' with very competitive premiums and offering more than LV.
Does anyone on here use One Call insurance for their buildings and contents, and have they been good when it came to making a claim.

I don't use them, cannot say that I have even heard of them before, but remember that whoever you swap to will increase their premium next year.
Have you tried contacting your current insurer and asking them if they can reduce it - especially as you have been with them for years. I have done this in the past and had the premium drastically reduced. In fact just try getting an on-line quote and see what the difference is.

I'll try David but they normally recognise the email address and say you already have a policy with us so cannot continue.

Just ring them up Stephen and tell them you are going to leave them. Usually they ask why and when you tell them you have a better offer they usually ask you to hold and then come back with an offer which is comparable. Every year I go through this performance with my current car insurers and motoring association and they always come up with a better offer.
If you are happy with LV it's worth a try,. They can only say no. Just don't tell them you know Keefy Onelife!!!!
Bon chance!!!

Thanks for the tip Foxy about Onelife. They'd nul an void it straight away if I mentioned his name
I did knock down my current insurance company last time to the previous years premium, which wasn't allot, but this company I've just looked at is half the price of my current renewal. I know you get what you pay for and you only know how good insurance is when it comes to making a claim, but sometimes you do feel like your getting ripped off with these higher and higher premiums. OK, as David mentioned it might be cheaper now and increase next year, but I can't see it doubling in price to what my current renewal premium is. And if by some miracle it did, then like everything else, you go elsewhere.

Re: Building & Contents Insurance
We were with Norwich Union for many years at an acceptable cost and then they hiked up the price, almost doubled it - for no reason it seemed - and we asked them to reconsider. They refused. So we did a price comparison and got the insurance with our bank - saving over £300 a year. And who was it written by? Norwich Union!
So we went back to them and told them the price THEY were prepared to insure us for, through our bank and would they match it. They refused! So we changed to the bank and have EXACTLY the same cover at a £300 saving!

Re: Building & Contents Insurance
As others have said Stephen phone LV up and tell them you have better quotes elsewhere, I have been with LV for four years now for car insurance and each year I am on their case about hiking up my renewal quote and they have always come down. There are cheaper insurance companies out there but study what you get for your money, I wouldn't touch One Call with a barge pole as Cheryl had a no fault accident while insured with them and they tried to rip her off with charges regarding her courtesey car until I threatened them with legal action.
I can't insure my house with LV or many other insurance companies because I have a large workshop at the top of my garden with quite a bit of expensive machinery in it and despite having top notch security and CCTV they say that the risk is too high. I am with NFU now so perhaps I should get a few pigs and chickens ooh aargh.

Hi Stephen.....why don't you go through an insurance broker such as Swinton....l know they had a bit of bad press a couple of years back but l use them and they genrally come back with something that suits the back pocket and from reputable companies. ....Oh! And if you get the chance could you get a quote for life insurance for OBF as he's going to need it when l catch up with him.....cheeky bugger!
