Not particularly a boxing fan but would agree he was the greatest and a great character.

I remember Michael Parkinson being asked who the most memorable person he'd interviewed was and Ali was right up there at the top.

I don't like boxing at all, and wasn't really an Ali/Clay fan, but it is sad that his last 40 years have been so blighted by Parkinsons, an awful disease. And he certainly was a great character.

Not a boxing fan but just watched the BBC tribute to him this evening. What a character and a pity his latter years were not covered and all that he did with his charity work, not least in the pursuit of a cure for Parkinsons.

HE was simply amazing. In spite of giving the impression of being 'all mouth', he really could and did do exactly what he said he would: - in AND out of the ring.

IMO, gfw, justifiable. He was not only a great sportsman, even though I have no liking for boxing,( which may have contribute to his health problems); he was also an eloquent speaker and a man who stood by his principles and took the consequences for his beliefs and he supported many charities, not least the one that afflicted him for many years.

I think that the media coverage is far less than the hysteria and hype that ensued on the demise of far lesser personalities this year who contributed only their music to the world and did nothing for the advancement of far greater matters in their lives.

Just my opinion but I await being shot down for it.

Whilst I agree with all you have said, I do think the press coverage has gone a little OTT in this case. #justsaying !!
