What's the longest you've waited for an email to arrive?

Yesterday, my sister (BT Internet) and I (Gmail) received an email from our mum's neighbour (Hotmail) saying she was extremely worried about mum's state of health and that she had collapsed three times since the weekend. Given that she'd just had a pacemaker installed two weeks ago, I headed straight down there - only to find mum reasonably fit and well.

It transpired that the email had been sent three weeks ago, just prior to her being rushed into hospital.

I reckon a carrier pigeon could have brought the message quicker...

I have not experienced that kind of delay. Mine seem to arrive with the speed of a thousand gazelles.....or not at all !!

It is a common misnomer that email is "instant". In general you will probably find that an email is received within a few minutes of being sent, but there are myriad of reasons as to why an email can be delayed. All emails will have the date that they were sent contained within the header but unfortunately this information is not easy to find as most email applications only display the date/time that the email was received.

I have just changed from a Windows phone to an iPhone and I can't seem to download the emails stored in hotmail folders, I receive inbox and junk mail ok but I haven't worked out how to get the messages stored in sub folders any ideas peoples?.
