Will you be sorting out the plodders, geriatric old nags and no-hope neddies? I am looking for a 5000-1 outsider cos if my football team can do it I feel sure some donkey walloper could do it as well.
Looking forward with trepidation anticipation to your choices.

My husband's grandmother did - we all thought she was mad but all wished afterwards that we had put a couple of pound on him too

According to t'internet Skippy can reach speeds up to 43mph over a short distance whereas horses reach 42mph. If we can find him a short race Skippy could win by a tail.
This could be an omen. Are there any runners with Skippy connotations. If so I might have a couple of bob on it.

Best I can offer is Definitely Red (as in "Red Kangaroo"). I think he has a chance too so definitely worth sixpence each way although the Keefmeister will tell us more !

The Grand National meeting starts today with the main event Saturday... 5.15

This link takes you to all the declared runners, form and odds.

http://www.grand-national-guide.co.uk

Note...just tap "show full list of runners" to get second list of 20 runners.

If you tap the horse name it will bring up a summary of its chances.

Onelifes guide...

(1) Horses aged 9 to 11 have the best record.... that being said there have been a couple of 8 year old winners in recent years.
(2) With the ground drying out look for horses that like good/good to soft.
(3) Weight...Whilst low weighted runners have a good record don't be put off backing those higher up the weights as the race now attracts a better class of horse.

Keefy's pick 3 to win...

With form figures which read ppp2pp1p  REGAL ENCORE won't inspire many punters to part with their money but if he's in the mood (and its a big if) this horse undoubtedly has the class to win a race such as this....at 50/l  he's  worth an EW flutter.

If you are looking for a horse with a bit more consistency then BLAKLION ticks all the right box's... has run some good races in top company, will stay the distance, has a top jockey and has a trainer who knows how to prepare horses for this race 14/1

On recent form DEFINITELY RED is very well handicapped so this one should give you a good run for your money....my only concern is that he's not the biggest horse and these fences might just catch him out... but hey, RED RUM was of a similar stature and look what he achieved.11/1 fav

I've reluctantly left MORE OF THAT out of my top 3 but do so knowing this is the class horse of the race and if he stays the distance he will go very close.

THE YOUNG MASTER is another that should be given serious  consideration.

******Pick 3 to win Competition*****

So what's  your fancy?

Good luck and let's hope both Jockeys and horses come back safely.

Hi Sir Merv...l could count on one hand punters that have become millionaires through betting so l would imagine the liklihood of onelife ever becoming one of them are far less than what you would have of becoming an alcoholic through drinking cheap plonk...slurp slurp.

I would imagine some of the Scottish bookies were left licking their wounds? I came away with no more than a slight scratch ...l staked £36 on the day with £11 going on the National... £6 win £2 place Regal Encore which ran a cracking race to finish a never nearer 8th and £3 win Blacklion 4th. Thankfully l managed to find a 12/1 winner which combined with a few other bits and pieces meant l only ended up losing £3 on the day....That's what l call a result....well done Arthur.

Pleased that Scottish horse won otherwise Mrs Krankie would have been expecting a re-run.
