Help, Dell laptop problem

Unread post by CaroleF »

I wonder if anyone can help. All of a sudden - I was typing a response to a thread on here - I made an error, pressed the Backspace key and nothing. Wasn't working. Then tried to put in a heading on Google Chrome and it kept deleting. So I went into Word and typed on a new document, Backspace key worked fine, no problem. So opened a new page in Chrome, came on here and tried again - no luck. So eventually I used IE instead of Chrome - as in fact I'm doing now - and the Backspace works, no problem. It's my Dell laptop I'm talking about. Anyone got any ideas - and any suggestions must be made as though you're talking to a five year old - no scrub that, a five year old probably knows more than I do about computers! I tried looking for help on the internet but all the suggestions were like a foreign language to me.
My son-in-law who is a computer programmer is hopefully coming down on Saturday so failing anyone being able to help, he may be able to. So for the moment I'm using IE rather than Chrome, which I prefer.

My iPad does that, I just reboot it. But as for a laptop - sorry that's beyond me

Well, I think I've done it - great pat on the back! I looked again online using my ipad and got advice to go into Chrome settings and reset back to the original settings. Did this and then shut down the computer and started up again and hey presto seems to have worked. No idea what caused the problem so suddenly.
Thanks for the quick response Gill.

There seems to be a lot of problems being reported with Chrome at the moment
