Unwanted Landline Calls ?

Unread post by Manoverboard »

During the past few days we have received two calls, same bloke but he's using two different numbers and area codes.

Wants to talk about our loft installation like wot he installed but grunted and hung up when Mobietta told him that he's got the wrong number.

Now …. I can, indeed have, blocked these two numbers but initially and in order to be of assistance  I thought I would ring him to suggest that he checks the area code he is ringing cos it's only one digit out from ours. However when I phoned him using the ' Calls List ' on our phone Auntie BT advises me to check the number and dial again cos the one that I dialled has not been recognised.

Is he using a 0141- ish prefix or is it something more cunning.

ps …. I checked the ' Who called … ' facility but there's nothing untoward about either number.

Any ideas ?
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

I believe these cunning people have fancy software to give you a false number. Some of the bank scammers do it so they appear as the real bank number.

Our recent calls from "BT Openreach", "Sky" and others offering to fix our broadband have all been different, though "Angela" appears to be working for at least two of them. I blocked the first few to no avail as they came up with new numbers. Since I kept one of them talking for a good five minutes before telling him he was a crook they seem to have stopped, at least for now.

P.s. I'll have a look at your loft after I finish the plastering. Mates rates.
