Trooping the Colour
A slimmed down version due to covid but the Welsh Guards did it well, trooping their Colour in front of Her Majesty
The small band from the Household Division was most enjoyable with a new way to double back through the band whilst marching called the fan. Executed very well as would be expected from our wonderful servicemen.

Yes I thought it was excellent.
Just a reminder we are 3 weeks behind the rest of the UK regarding lockdown measures.

Should her Maj have had a quieter ' Do ' given how much the Royal Estates benefitted from the slave trade

It seems that according to the media the slave trade was the only reason Britain prospered, and indeed it was instrumental in kick starting the industrial revolution.Manoverboard wrote: 13 Jun 2020, 12:53Should her Maj have had a quieter ' Do ' given how much the Royal Estates benefitted from the slave trade![]()
Rather odd that Portugal which had more slaves taken to Brazil than any other country was at one stage, not all that long ago, the poorest country in Europe.

As I am apparently a priveliged white man, I can say that I have not benefited but then I’m not 300 yr old.

I thought it still was, bar Greece and Albania ... plus maybe a couple of other even smaller places.towny44 wrote: 13 Jun 2020, 13:54It seems that according to the media the slave trade was the only reason Britain prospered, and indeed it was instrumental in kick starting the industrial revolution.Manoverboard wrote: 13 Jun 2020, 12:53Should her Maj have had a quieter ' Do ' given how much the Royal Estates benefitted from the slave trade![]()

The Portuguese are lovely people but a tad too laid back to bother having an industrial revolution, far easier to tit about with cork trees and vines. It almost seems as though they sat back on their laurels after the passing of wooden ships. To the present day they still have very close ties with Brazil and many of their Uni Graduates emigrate there leaving Portugal somewhat in the past. Sad really but still a beautiful and interesting Country to visit.

Portugal has been a very good ally of ours, one of the few we have had no fallout with. I agree with you Moby, a beautiful and interesting country to visit.

They are in fact our oldest allies, something that gives me pride I have to say.Ray B wrote: 13 Jun 2020, 16:06Portugal has been a very good ally of ours, one of the few we have had no fallout with. I agree with you Moby, a beautiful and interesting country to visit.
