V J Day
Many memories here today as we watch on television the VJ Day 75th commemorations.
My husbands favourite uncle was taken prisoner in Singapore and was on the Burma railway.
He was one of the few to make it home.
Upon which he married his sweetheart, raised his family and sailed his boat and lived his life.
Many reflections today.

Hi Lindsey. ...just finished watching the remembrance ceremony which left me feely quite moved. It was a lovely and fitting tribute to all who were subjected to some of the worst atrocities of WW2.
I watched a film last night called "The railwayman" it's not an easy film to watch but it is a true life account of how POW's were treated at the hands of the Japanese Imperial Army during that time.

According to antipodean chums this anniversary is not celebrated with the enthusiam one would expect given their close involvement with the Japanese forces at that time.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being
