An advert for the men............
I hope you don't mind me advertising but one of the charities I subscribe to is Prostate Cancer UK. You may have seen the little stick man badges some men wear.
Can I also promote the taking of a PSA test. You may not have any symptoms of cancer but it may still be there and is curable if caught early. At a recent meeting 120 men took the test and 15 were found to need further investigation. They had no idea they were at risk. If you have never had a PSA test it might be something worth thinking about.

Good call Foxy
…. My wife asked me to mention that a raised PSA doesn’t necessarily mean you have cancer it could be that you have “benign prostatic hyperplasia” or indeed other conditions.
It might also be a good time to remind men to keep playing checking their balls

She's right Keith but if your PSA is high it does open the door for the medics to keep a check and monitor it. The concern is for those men who have no symptoms.

Have a chum who was diagnosed, in his case he had to have oestrogen as part of his treatment but it turns out that he seemed to be less concerned about being dead than growing boobs

Absolutely Foxy.....and it is often the case that those who rarely go to the doctor for blood tests (otherwise healthy men) are the ones that get caught out.oldbluefox wrote: 14 Jan 2021, 20:40She's right Keith but if your PSA is high it does open the door for the medics to keep a check and monitor it. It may be a good idea but there's no way I'm making any plans to visit the Doctor or go to a Hospital if the need were to arise. The risk of Covid is presently too great or so I would have thought

If I hadn't had a PSA last year I wouldn't have coincidentally discovered my more serious heart problem.

Then it’s a gamble what ‘might’ get you first, Covid, cancer or as Merv found out some other underlying problem. At the end of the day it’s just a blood test that is carried out in a very strict one in one out patient environment at the surgery and by appointment only at the hospital, be it a local community or main hospital.
I take it you won’t be having your Covid vaccine then, that’s assuming you haven’t already had it!

Re: An advert for the men............
Life itself is a gamble and we will all die of something sooner or later. I have already looked death in the face twice and I'm still here to tell the tale. I do not believe that the odds of escaping Covid in a NHS General Hospital are stacked in my favour so I will avoid such places at least until after I have had the jab.
The jab, when it comes, is not going to be in a Hospital which is where imo the highest risk is.

It can only be a matter of a month or so before Moby gets his jab so on balance the odds would suggest he's doing the right thing.
