Just thought I'd say "Hello"
Hi everybody
It's me Peter R (for anyone that used to post on the old Cruise Connections website).
I hope those from the old days are still posting and will be cruising again sometime soon. I have Enchanted Princess booked for this July but I'm not holding out too much hope it will happen.

Welcome back from the wilderness. Where have you been all this time?
I was taught to be cautious

Re: Just thought I'd say "Hello"
Hi Oldbluefox
I guess because I wasn't cruising with P&O anymore I had nothing to contribute.
During lockdown I've been lurking on the Cruise Critic forum for P&O and remembered how much fun it used to be posting stuff.
I've also just found out looking through all the members' names here I registered on this site with another name, but can't seem to log in using it!
Are there many from the "old days" still here. I think it was David Taylor who created this forum!

Re: Just thought I'd say "Hello"
I remember you from the old forum. There's still a few of us chatting on here - some more than others! Although we're not cruising at the moment it's still good to keep in touch and hear what people are up to, well more thinking about these days. I don't know if I will cruise again but it'll be interesting reading about those who do. Maybe one day when the restrictions have gone - assuming that eventually they do. Anyway welcome back.

Hi Peter, come on in, there are quite a few you may remember on here.
It is also a very friendly site, a bit mad at times, but we do not suffer from the looney brigade that at times caused a nuisance on the old site.
Welcome.

Hi again Everyone.
Thanks for the welcome back and to Site Admin for getting my old user name resurrected.
Are the likes of Derek K, Phillip G, Alan & Katrina J, Gill D, Jeanie K, Lyn L and Elaine B still around. Not mentioning of course Alan B and his darling daughter Tracey!!
Is Stephen telling his jokes too!

Yes - every Friday
The only one on that list who posts regularly is Gill D - whilst some of the others may "look in" they do not post (some have left the site)Esprit wrote: 03 Mar 2021, 14:09Are the likes of Derek K, Phillip G, Alan & Katrina J, Gill D, Jeanie K, Lyn L and Elaine B still around. Hi David
Congratulations for keeping this site going for so many years now. It seems a lot bigger than I remember.

I’m here! Not a lot to say these days, but hopefully before too much longer.Esprit wrote: 03 Mar 2021, 14:09Hi again Everyone.

Some of those names are no longer with us sadly. Some have disappeared - maybe to other fora, maybe altogether.
Nice to see your name again

Hi Gill
I hope you are keeping well and under Doctor's orders!
Hard to believe it was back in 2000 that Cruise Connections first appeared.

Re: Just thought I'd say "Hello"
I know it’s extraordinary that there are so many we have known for so long.
You may not know that poor Lyn tragically died a few years ago, and if by Alan B you mean Alan Br***in then he died too. I suppose inevitable after so may years.
Tony and I have defected to Cunard Grills mainly these days, though we do also enjoy Oceania and Regent occasionally, and we have rediscovered the joys of land holidays, helped by our son living in Asia - when allowed to travel there!
Hoping you and the family are well, I expect your children are children no longer!

Re: Just thought I'd say "Hello"
That's sad to read about Lyn. I spoke over the phone with her a few times about her transport business.
Yeah, that was the infamous Alan B. Trolling these days is tame after that episode with him on the CC board.
I am still in contact with Karen W, Val S and Alan & Katrina J.
As our daughter became Activities Manager aboard Celebrity ships we did a few to be with her. She met her husband aboard Constellation and they did their last contract together opening Celebrity Edge. We all cruised together on one of its inaugural cruises and it was amazing.
I really missed not being able to ski this winter, but think I caught Covid a year ago after skiing in Ischgl (Austria). That resort was considered to be "Ground Zero" for Coronavirus in Europe!
Hoping to cruise sometime this year, but after yesterday's Princess announcement our July Enchanted Princess Med' cruise from Civitavecchia will no doubt be cancelled in the next announcement.
Glad to read you and Tony are enjoying life together. I presume he has retired from his practice.

Re: Just thought I'd say "Hello"
Yes, he retired from the Practice 11 years ago and we moved to the Gower - where I was from - he worked a few years P/T at the local Hospice but retired completely 5 years ago. Now we have time to go away as often as we like - or did!
Hopefully, life will get back to some sort of normal before too long. Stay safe Peter.
